SMILEY FACE-FOREST GUMP

PRODUCED BY: RYAN T. ORZELEK

Historical Background-The original version of the familiar smiley face was first created in Worcester, Massachusetts by Harvey Ross Ball, Ball came up with the image in 1963 when he was asked to create something to raise morale among the employees of an insurance company(AFC) but was later revised and patented by the Spain brothers who made millions off it

Accuracy in the movie:

in the movie a truck drives by and splashes Gump’s face with mud. He wipes his face on a yellow T-shirt and given to him by an entrepreneur,he hands it back to the, telling him to “have a nice day.” The imprint of a smiling face on the bright yellow t-shirt,this is completely opposite on how it was made.
