a) Terrance Stanley Fox, known as Terry Fox was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on July 28 1958. In early March of 1977, Terry was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. Terry began his Marathon of Hope on April 12 1980, and would run about 42 km a day. Terry was forced to stop just outside of Thunder Bay Ontario on September 1 1980, due to the cancer spreading to his lungs. Terry ran for 143 days and covered 5 373 km and raised $24 million dollars by February 1 1981. Terry died a hero on June 28 1981.

a) Alexander Graham Bell was born on March 3 1847 Edinburgh, Scotland. Mr. Bell worked on the telephone for two years with his assistant Thomas Watson. On March 10 1876 the first words spoken over the phone were “Mr. Watson -come here- I want to see you.” On August 2 1922 in Bedeck, Nova Scotia, Alexander Graham Bell passed away.

a) James “Jim” Carrey was born in Newmarket Ontario January 17 1962 and is a movie and television actor. Jim is most likely the most successful Canadian comedy actors in Hollywood. Some famous movies Jim starred in were: Dumb and Dumber, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Mask, Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty and A Series of Unfortunate Events. Jim won over 18 awards and has won many honours for his work.

a) David Takayoshi Suzuki was born on March 24 1936 in Vancouver British Columbia. David is an environmentalist, broadcaster and geneticist. David is known around the world for his environmentalist work and as a broadcaster on the “Nature of Things” television series which first aired on CBC on November 6 1960. David was won multiple awards and honours all over the world for his incredible work. In 2000 David won the lifetime achievement award from the University of British Columbia.

a) Justin Trudeau is the 23rd and current prime minister of Canada and is the Liberal Party leader. Prime Minister Trudeau was born on December 25 1971 in Ottawa Ontario. He is the son of the 15th Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Justin was elected leader of the Liberal Party with nearly 80% of the vote on April 14 2013. On October 19 2015 Justin Trudeau became the 23rd Prime Minister of Canada with the Liberal party winning 184 seats in parliament with a 39.5% vote.

a) Wayne Gretzky was born on January 26 1961 in Brantford Ontario. Wayne played for the Indianapolis Racers in the World Hockey Association. Wayne also played for the Edmonton Oilers, LA Kings before he spent the remainder of his NHL career with the New York Rangers. Wayne retired in 1999. He was the ninth and final NHL player to be immediately ushered to the NHL Hall of Fame.

a) Rick Hansen was born on August 26 1957 in Port Alberni and grew up in Fort St. Johns Abbotsford and is currently the CEO of the Rick Hansen Foundation. Rick entered the Paralympic games twice and entered the 1984 Olympics in wheelchair track and broke the two hour record. Rick Hansen started the Man in Motion world tour in Vancouver on March 22 1985 and crossed 34 countries. He returned to North America on May 2 1987 and raised $26 million dollars.

a) Céline Dion was born in Charlemagne Quebec on March 30 1968 and was the 14 child of her family. Céline started off singing at a very young age and was making songs and performing on live television by the age of 14. Céline won the lifetime achievement Icon Award on May 22 2016, at the Billboard Music Awards. Céline has a total of 7 Grammys and has won many awards and honours throughout her career.

a) Justin Bieber is a singer and songwriter, and was born on March 1 1994 in Stratford Ontario. Justin first started posting videos in 2007 and was discovered by Scooter Braun. Justin’s hit ‘One Time’ was released in July 2009 and Justin has many hits and albums after One Time. Justin has had two movies made about him. Even though Justin has had a bad reputation in the past where he was had trouble with the cops, Justin has joined many organisations of different kinds. Justin has won 89 awards.

a) Archibald Belaney, famously known as Grey Owl was born in Hastings England on September 18 1888 he was a writer and conservationist. His books were written with the central themes of conservation. Several biographies were published of Grey Owl and in 1999 a fictionalized biography directed by Richard Attenborough was released. Grey Owl died on April 13 1938 in Prince Albert Saskatchewan.
