The education needed to be a trainer is a degree from an accredited athletic trainer curriculum. These include areas like injury prevention, first aid care, emergency care, assessment 0f injuries, therapy, and nutrition. More than 70 percent of athletic trainers have a masters degree.

Athletic trainers do many different things, it all depends on the situation. Athletic Trainers are there for prevention, rehabilitation, emergency care, and therapy. You usually are under the head athletic trainer in your department until you get enough experience to be promoted.

There are many jobs out there for an athletic trainer. If you love being outdoors you could be a trainer for a football or baseball team, or maybe you like being indoors then you could work at a doctors office or for a basketball team. Your weeks consist of about 40-50 hours a week usually with weekends off. If you are not helping inured players you are most likely talking to players about injury prevention and how to take care of your body.

The environment for athletic trainers vary from field to field. it sometimes depends if you work for a high school, college, or professional team. Most of the trainers work indoors and outdoors it all depends on the type of sport. Being a trainer you have to be able to move fast to an accident and stay calm the whole time. You also have to be flexible with your schedule cause some college and all professional sports require a lot of traveling during the season.
