Adult tree snails are hermaphrodites, meaning they have both male and female reproductive organs, and the snails have a comparatively long lifespan, which is estimated to be about ten years in the wild.
However, the tree snails have a very low reproductive rate, and only become able to breed after three to five years. Coupled with their low birth rates (4-7 offspring per year), the snails have a hard time repopulating an area after being depleted.

Oahu Tree snails are located in the mountainous biome in dry and wet forests at an altitude above 1,300 feet, such as in the Waianae Mountain Range above.
Oahur Tree Snails prevent competition from various other organisms by virtue of being nocturnal and having a specific food source: the snails feed only on fungi that grow on leaves within its natural habitat.
