Senior Citizen programs have allowed the older residents of Newark to stay in their homes longer, leading independent, dignified lives.
Ironbound Community Corporation partners with Essex County College to prepare citizens on the history of the United States, the personal interview, and other information necessary to take the naturalization exam given by the Department of Immigration.
ICC is committed to family strengthening. Community members utilize family services in times of need, for community celebration, and for access to opportunity. Key components of the program include: family success planning, parenting programs, parent-child activities, healthcare access, economic self-sufficiency, life skills, and finding affordable housing.
The Early Learning Center includes a preschool and early head start program. With a recent donation of 5.5 million dollars from a private philanthropist, ICC was able to create a state of the art learning center for children from birth to age five. Due to the environment many of these children are raised in, studies prove they come in 18-24 months in language and literacy development behind their wealthier peers. The Early Learning Center provides intervention services to ensure each child reach developmental milestones and prepares them cognitively, emotionally, physically, and socially.
