Whiskey is an alcoholic beverage that Anthony Marston was drinking on the night of his death. The others stranded on Soldier Island believe his whiskey was poisoned and that is why he died.

In some mysteries, there are nuisances, or very annoying people that are often accused of the crime-doing, just because of their behavior.

Thomas and Ethel Rogers are the servents on Soldier Island, and serve the characters that are trapped. They are accused of murdering Jennifer Brady. Ethel Rogers is then found dead in her bed. She is thought to have died in her sleep.

Anthony Marston is a character trapped on Soldier Island and is accused of murdering John and Lucy Combes. He then dies from poison in his drink.

Queer things have been going about on Soldier Island. The little soldier figures have been disappearing as the characters on the island die. The characters in the book often use the term "queer" to describe most of these occurences.

Philip Lombard is another character that is trapped on Soldier Island. He is accused of murdering twenty-one men from an East African tribe. Lombard is one of the three men that teams up to search the island and solve the mystery of the island.

John Wargrave is a judge in old England and is another charcter stuck on Soldier Island. He is accused of murdering Edward Seton.

Ten charcters are on Soldier Island and there are ten little soldier figures. As the characters die, the soldier figures disappear.

Mrs. Rogers yelled before she fainted and in most mysteries, the victims that are about to be killed yell.

Some murder mysteries have a suspect that has a big heart, but might try to be covering up with their big heart. This type of suspect adds to the suspicion.

General Macarthur is another character trapped on Soldier Island and is accused of murdering Arthur Richmond.

Emily Brent is an old lady on the island and is accused of murdering Beatrice Taylor. She is very religious and set in her own ways, but her stubbornness leads to Beatrice drowning herself.
