LOGO DESIGN IN COMPUTER LAB

Objective: Artists will design a logo, ask for feedback, edit and save with sumopaint.com.

Unit 4 LT 's

LT8: I can cooperatively create a logo/symbol using the design cycle.
LT9: I can use both text and image in my composition to communicate meaning.
UNIT 4 Day 2: (5/19 & 5/20)
Bring your folder and iPad to the table.
Day 3: NO FOLDERS. Logo work in computer lab, 5/21 and 5/22
Objective: Artists will explore the world of graphic design and try to create a logo using sumopaint.com in the computer lab.

Objective: Artists will get new assigned seats, define graphic design and graphic designer and do a poster critique as a group.

GRAPHIC DESIGN:
the art or skill of communicating by combining text and pictures in advertisements, magazines, or books.
GRAPHIC DESIGNER:
Artist who works with technology and other art processes to create images, ads and pictures for print and web.

Objective: Artists will present on their poster from Day 1 and begin LT8: I can cooperatively create an logo/symbol using the design cycle.

Objective: Use this extra class time to finish your Op-Art assignment, upload your selfie with your clay house, do missing work or complete your Monochromatic Homework assignment. Otherwise quiet reading or free art using ONLY the materials on the materials table.

LOGO DESIGN CATEGORIES
Choose a category you are interested in from the list above. Then design SIX "thumbnail" logos/sketches that work with that category. We will bring these thumbnail sketches to the computer lab on Wednesday to create digitally using sumopaint.com.

CONCEPT SHARING AND GALLERY WALK
Procedure:
1. go to sumopaint.com, choose to use FREE version
2. Practice using the different tools
try writing your name NOT using type tool
change sizes of brushes, pencils
fill in colors
eraser tool
3. Try drawing your logo, add color
4. Save to your computer
PROCEDURE:
1. Distribute Mondrian painting sections
2. Go over hallway expectations
3. Gather work from hallways
4. Art class survey
Warm-up Turn and Talk: Would you want to be a graphic designer someday? Why or why not?

Objective: Artists will describe the concept behind their graphic design project and give each other feedback via a whole-class gallery walk.
Warm-up Turn and Talk: After exploring sumopaint.com, will you change your original logo design? Why or why not? How will you change it? What tools did you discover?
