After their many trials their was a happy ending for the bielski resistance. 1,000 of the members who were in the otriad were able to escape, only about 200 didn't make it. The resistance first got out of the forest encampment and fled to either western europian contries or the usa. Tuvia bielski after moving to Isreal moved to the usa and drove a taxi, then moved to a truck, and owned two trucks by the end of his career.

Problems They Faced

One of the main problems the Bielski resistance faced was keeping a sustainable food supply. They solved this by sending young members out to steal from the germans. The next problem they faced was creating shelter. When they formed the otriad many members with special skill helped out. The camouflaged dugouts to slep in, a theatre, a bakery, a massive kitchen, medical facilities, bathhouses, a school, a tanner, and a jail. This was achieved by some of the otriads skill such as, carpentesr, seamstress and tailors, mechanics, demolitionists, cobblers and watch makers. their final problem was hiding from the Germans. To ensure survival they had to live out of the city, so they lived in the forest, though many were scared. They did need to relocate many times though.

Quotes

" Don't rush to fight and die. so few of us are left, we need to save lives."

"We cannot simply hide ourselves. We must do something for our people. We cannot sit in the bushes and wait until the wolf comes for us. We must send people to the ghettos to save jews."

Beliefs of the brothers

The Brothers were successful because they were able to convince and gain the respect of their followers. They also believed no Jew should be left behind and tended to execute members who left someone in the attempt to run. This made others more opt to listen. Women needed abortions so the children would not be burdens and they believed saving each other was more important then killing Germans. The brothers end goal was to have everyone escape

How The Organization started

When the Nazis started ghettos only to take jews and poles out to giant trenches then Shot them down with machine guns. Likewise happened to the Bielski's parents and 8 of the unlisted siblings. 5,500 people died in the one shooting. On top of that the germans torched 9,000 villages and took 380,000 slaves totally. The four surviving brothers fled and started an organization too help jews escape and eventually leave the land entirely.

The Bielski family

The Family grew up in west Poland then later moved to Belarus. they lived in a town called Stanwicze. They owned a farm including a mill and lived near the forest. There were 10 sons and 2 daughters but only four children lived. The four children Aharon Tuvia Asael and Zusya started the organization.
