Promenade Staging

Why people may prefer Promenade Theatres as well as play producers

Advantages and Disadvantages of Promenade

Many people enjoy the concept of a promenade stage because it makes them feel more involved in the play and gives off more of an atmosphere.

An advantage of promenade staging is that if the location matches the setting of the play, then it makes the play feel like more of an experience and more realistic.

On the other hand, a disadvantage of promenade is that moving a lot can take a lot of time and can break the excitement of the play.

What is a promenade theatre?

Examples of Promenade Theatres

An example of promenade theatre would be the theatre based in Lancaster Lancaster. They perform promenade productions of Shakespeare’s classics. Like much promenade theatre, its work is site-specific, meaning it is only performed in a particular location. In this case, all the plays are performed in the magnificent Lancaster castle.

A promenade theatre is when people move around from stage to stage. A promenade makes people feel like they are more of a part of the performance and is more of an experience than a play. Promenade is used most of the time for plays that are set in the medieval era.
