Audio: Warrior's Call by Volbeat
Giving the Death of the Ball Turret Gunner,
"From my mother’s sleep I fell into the State,
And I hunched in its belly till my wet fur froze.
Six miles from earth, loosed from its dream of life,
I woke to black flak and the nightmare fighters.
When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose."
the poem portrays more then just words that is written it shows the audience the feeling that goes through ones mind during this situation and time, to make those words relate.
The external conflict is presented very vaguely, but is more meaningful when you understand the context.
Considering that the poem occurs in WWII, the external conflict of the U.S.'s (most likely pacific theatre) side of the battle becomes very clear.
