  • Americans were very paranoid during the War
  • Fear of German spies
  • So.......be very careful what you say about the war

For the Kids Too!

  • Families were limited in use of certain items
  • Gasoline
  • Tires
  • Milk
  • Sugar
  • Meat
  • Shoes

- After Pearl Harbor, FDR passed a law ordering all Japanese-Americans to evacuate the west coast

- 120,000 people were sent to 10 different internment camps

- Had to leave jobs and houses!

- 1988 Congress paid every Japanese American affected

  • Under the guidance of the WPB, peacetime industries converted to war production
  • Ex: American auto companies did not make cars for the public during war
  • Unemployment vanished
