household and farming chemicals

China

-Farming chemicals include pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, hormones and antibiotics.

-Chemicals are often sprayed over crops to protect them from pests or even from the weather.

-Household pollutants release volatile organic compound which are both harmful to human health and the environment.

These pollutants include cleaners, solvents, adheisives, paints, varnishes and various hobby supplies.

-China's industrialization has caused widespread environmental and health issues due to the extreme pollution.Infact 16 of the worlds most polluted cities are in China.

-These cities are often covered in a dense smog which causes lots of health problems to it inhabitants.

-The life expectancy of a traffic director in Beijing is only 40 years old.

How can we make a change?

There are several ways we can help reduce air pollution such as carpooling or riding a bike but the most important thing to do is invest in renewable energy sources such as hydro and wind farms.

Air pollution

Burning of fossil fuels

-Air pollution due to the burning of fossil fuels is mainly caused by automobiles and the burning of coal for energy.

-In 2000 12 000 tonnes of thorium and 5000 tonnes of uranium were released worldwide.

-In 1982 U.S coal burning released 155 times as much radiation into the atmosphere as the three mile island incident.

WHAT IS AIR POLLUTION?

Air pollution is the introduction of particulates, biological materials or other harmful materials into the earth's atmosphere, causing disease, deaths to humans and damaging to other living organisms.

What causes air pollution?

-There are natural causes to air pollution such as volcanic eruptions, forest fires, wind erosion, pollen dispersal, evaporation of natural compounds and natural radioactivity.

-The human causes for air pollution are the burning of fossil fuels, emissions from industries and manufacturing activities and household and farming chemicals.
