Benefit-finding

Positive cognitive interpretation of setback (seeing event in a different light)

"What became apparent immediately was that there was nothing out there for children. And as a mother that was just unacceptable."

Postive Psychology Concepts

"Being More Like Elizabeth"

HOPE

  • Hope- A belief in the ability to persevere toward goals and find the methods or paths to reach them
  • Efficacy- The confidence that one can put forth the effort to affect outcomes
  • Resilience- The ability to bounce back in the face of adversity or failure
  • Optimism- A generally positive view of work and the potential of success

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation exhibits the resources of HERO within the organization in order to continue to make a positive change throughout the world

Positive Psychology Concepts

Elizabeth had the courage to share her story and execute an action plan in order to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS. As a result, the foundation has saved over 200 children from contracting HIV.

Collective Hope

Reflects the level of goal-directed thinking of a large group of people

Is operative when several people join together to tackle a goal that would be impossible for any one person

With a team of board of directors, senior staff, donors, partners, and EGPAF ambassadors working together they are able to make a difference
