Analysis
The poet descriptively explains the perspective of drowning even though it was a dream. It has quite a simple rhyming scheme; it is A,A,B,B etc. It does have a hidden message in it which is learning to swim. This poem doesn’t just show the perspectives of the actual person, it also has a brief part on what it is like for the family. This isn’t an exact perspective because the poet hasn’t had to go through this. The purpose is slightly to show that learning to swim is a vital part in life for everyone. It shows this in the poem when it says how much people suffer and it is also common sense to know the purpose. The emotions created in this poem are a big variety. The main emotion to me reading it was sadness at the beginning when the person is drowning. It then changes to relief and joy when the person is saved and even more when it becomes a dream. When I read this I thought that too many people suffer in this world and it needs to stop by doing a very simple thing like learning to swim. Although not as many people suffer drowning, when someone happens to drown, it is all the people connected to them that suffer. In the first half of the poem there is high suspense on what will happen. This is showed by repeating the idea of death and using personification. Due to the fact that the purpose was indirect and didn’t actually say it, the poet did not exactly achieve his or her purpose. - Cam D
This poem shows us humans on what we are doing to the world and Mother Nature. It also shows how these problems are causing global warming. The poet has included a very strong purpose to confront us in what we are doing wrong to the world. An example of this is when it says ‘every day we hurt her more’. This also shows that it is the whole world that is doing wrong not just a part. There is one major emotion in the poem which is quite clear when you read it. It is sadness and quite confronting. It descriptively describes what some of the things we are doing wrong. When I read this it made me think what I have been doing wrong. I first thought that I’m fine and I don’t do anything but it made me realise what I do even though I may not notice. It is a strongly directed poem to confront the reader and make them think. It will make most people think about what they can do to help as well. Personification was used highly with Mother Nature so people infer that she is a real person and deserves to be treated in a better manner. The poet achieved their purpose really well, I think this because it really made me think and could make a slight difference if everybody thought about this.

There’s not a lot of rhyming in this poem but poems don’t always have to rhyme so the rhyming in lost dream is there are only 4 lines that rhyme and they are: Lost, cost, echo and gecko. There’s a metaphor in the last line: in my warm cozy cocoon and its saying that the cocoon is a warm cozy bed.
The effect from this poem is that it gives a sense of worry for the two men and concern for them because there lost in the dark forest.

This poem is about my love and appreciation of the sea and the aspects witch make up the ocean and beach. I live near the beach, and i never take it for granted how beautiful the place is and all of the fun there is to have their. The power of the surf and the life beneath the waves and around the shores is so amazing. This poem ignites my passion for the sea and makes me wonder of the world that lives beneath surface.

Disease is poem a about the pain that people feel when they have certain diseases. For example, it says “Malaria, Leprosy, Smallpox too, Ebola and Aids as well as Swine Flu! “The poet’s purpose is to inform you about disease. How it does these is it states, “We need to stop these diseases and hope the pain eases.” It’s also describes the pain of some disease. It is a sad and informing for example it says, “Creepy Crawlies up your blood” and “then your body feels like blood” are some examples of the emotion that is created. The poem makes you think about how diseases can affect you and the pain that people with diseases go through. It also makes you think about how you could help people with these diseases. The techniques used are personification “Holding you by your arms and legs, similes “It is like your life is being hung by pegs” and “Then your body feels like mud” are a few examples of similes then final thing is the rhyming scheme which goes A, A, B, C, B, C, C, D, D, E, E, F that is the rhyming scheme.

Mother Earth is in pain,
Mankind should be ashamed,
Every day we hurt her more,
attacking her with knives and swords, Metaphor
the pain trickles right to her core, Metaphor
the lightning striking at your door! Simile
fossil fuels, greenhouse gasses,
and meat consumed in masses,
all this contribute to her pain, Metaphor
which is why we should be ashamed,
soon her tears will cover the earth, Metaphor
falling from antarctic walls destroying all her worth.
Blue so bright
The waves crash with might.
Deep so deep, I can see how deep,
Out on the headland the waves come with heat,
Yet I can see as far as the eye can see.
While standing on the golden hot sand, it burns my feet
Dolphins jump, while the clouds go by and the shore breaks dump.
The alarm sounds, as the people flee
when the sharks come in on a feeding spree.
As my heart and sole are with the sea
We are out in the middle of nowhere
And we are now lost
We need to fire a flare into the sky
And now it’s starting to get dark
We left our phones in the car park
With no food, no water and no shelter. Lost
We cannot die at this cost
And shouting won’t help it will just echo
And all that we can hear is a gecko
Daylight finally comes
I’m half-awake from warmth
In my warm cozy cocoon. Just a dream.
Falling from the surface down,
As I slowly start to drown,
Losing sight of the sky,
Hoping that i will not die, Repetition
Taking in my final breath,
Hoping that i wont meet death, Personification
Dragged back to the surface again,
I start to hear something like a seaplane,
Thinking of how people suffer, Simile
Their families lives get heaps rougher,
Back in my old boring tub.
I realize i forgot to scrub

My dog is quite the amazer,
His bite is like a taser, Simile
He knows how to bark,
And is the fastest dog in the park,
He is faster than a laser,
He sleeps on my bed,
Sometimes next to my head,
He is not always smart,
Definitely knows how to fart,
That's because he always gets fed,
He is faster than me,
When it comes swim,
His name is Razor,
But i still don't hate him.
The waves crash down onto the slippery deck
The water sprays onto my neck,
Our old boat cannot stand this much
Even though we put in a special touch.
We put on new white strong sails,
But then, my crew bails.
They jump off our old wooden ship
And the ship starts to dip.
Slowly into the darkness of the sea.
And I gradually start to drown
All of the way down
Goodbye my crew.
As I roll my hand back on the handle bar
A beast awakens and i am in control
My arms become straight as i hold on so tight!
The feeling of going fast is just unexplainable.
To glide straight of a jump and fly through the air-
I feel like an acrobat but only for a moment,
But then i land down like ton of bricks.
The suspension sucks me down like water going down the sink,
As i ride away i slide my feet back onto the firm familiar pegs.
Riding a motorbike makes me so happy
I love the air hitting my face, i feel so free, like there is nothing that can stop me.
Disease
You may not see it,
But you sure will feel it.
It starts off like a small pin,
Jabbing like daggers at your arms and legs
Before taking away your skin.
It is like your life is being hung by pegs,
Holding you by your arms and legs.
Creepy crawlies up your blood,
Then your body feels like mud.
Malaria, Leprosy, Smallpox too,
Ebola and Aids as well as Swine flu!
We need to stop these diseases
and we hope the pain eases.
Analysis of Razor
I feel that this poem gives a deep explanation on cam's dog, and what he is able to do. This poem is trying to show and persuade the reader to buy a dog because they can make such a difference in your life.
When i read this poem i felt inspired to go play with my dog more than I already, and spend more time with him. The poem is a very happy and upbeat poem.
