Every presentation always has a...

and ultimately you are trying to tell a...

message across...

but very often other types of presenting software results in...

and sometimes a "slide" is just not enough...

on the other hand provides you with a blank canvas, it's like having your own virtual...

where you can put all your thinking down and then allows you to present the content in a unique and dynamic way.

I like to start any Prezi off with a "Theme".

Now let's look at the other tools, starting with "Shapes".

Now let's look at the other "Insert" options.

Therefore I decided to compile a Prezi 101 that explains the basics and how to get the most out of Prezi.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

Recently I attended a conference and I was quite surprised to find that none of the Guest Speakers used Prezi.

Nearly every time I do a Keynote or a general presentation using Prezi, it is always followed with "what did you use to do that presentation?"

to get a

and a...

Prezi 101

Here are the basics that you need to know.

Make sure this is autosaving

Print will save the Prezi as a .PDF just make sure that everything has finished loading before clicking on print

This will become your best friend and the tool you'll use most often

Additional learning resources...

You won't use this much, your mouse can do all of these navigation functions

Click on the arrow and then click on the + or - to make it bigger or smaller.

Double click on the arrow to change the shape and colour.

How to use the text boxes?

Just like images and shapes, click on the text and use the + or - to make the text smaller or bigger.

Double click on the canvas to start typing.

Lastly we are going to look at "Path".

If you have created paragraphs, you can select the button on the left and drag the text out to create a new line.

Next up is "Frame".

You can drag the button on the right if you wish to extend the length of the paragraph.

Insert images

You can change the font by selecting either "Title", "Subtitle" or "Body". You select these Fonts in your theme.

"double click on an image to crop it"

With this bar you can also change the colour of the text, the alignment and use bullets.

On the left you will see all your "paths". You can change this order as you would move slides in PowerPoint.

Insert existing PowerPoint presentations

Drag this + sign to other content you want to include in an existing path.

Use this + symbol to select the content you want to include in your path.

Insert YouTube Clips

I prefer to use Keepvid.com and download the .flv file to avoid buffering in the presentation.

Similar to shapes, double click on the frame to change the width or height.

Insert Diagrams

Similar to shapes, click on the frame and click on the + or - to make it bigger or smaller.

Insert Files

.pdf / .flv

If you have an iPad, download the Prezi App, this is great for presenting on the move and it only has to download once & that means no load times for videos etc.

Final Tips

  • Make sure your prezi is constantly saving.

  • If you are inserting lots of video content you might find that your browser will crash or a message will come up saying that there is not enough memory.

  • Always export the Prezi before presenting.

You are now all set.

Enjoy.
