Suspended Sentence
When is it given out?
A court can impose a suspended sentence where they are sentencing an offender to imprisonment of up to two years. Breach of the bond is very serious and the court can revoke the bond and reinstate the original prison sentence, together with an additional sentence of breaching the bond.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of penalty?
- A suspended sentence is a serious penalty for an offender. It is imposed in place of imprisonment on the condition that the offender enters into a good behaviour bond for the same period of time.
- The imprisonment is suspended providing the offender compiles with the conditions of the bond and the offender is released to resume their normal life.
