Usher Raymond IV was born on October 14, 1978 in Dallas, Texas. However, he spent most of his childhood in Chattanooga, Tennessee. His mom, Jonnetta, raised Usher and his younger brother James by herself. At the age of six, Usher began to sing in church choirs and preforming in talent shows. A few years later Usher and his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. While continuing to preform in small talent shows, Usher was offered a record deal. This is where Usher's career really started to take off.

Usher preforms R&B and pop music which is a music genre that incorporates elements of rhythm and blues. Usher is considered to be very successful. He began making music at the age of 15. His albums include My Way, Confessions, and Looking 4 Myself.

Usher's main influences are Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye. He believes that they all have the ability to last forever. They do this by making music that stays around forever. Usher wants his music to inspire people and still be around when he is gone.
Usher is influential not only to his fans but to other artists as well. For example, Drake and Justin Bieber's music is greatly inspired by Usher's. Although they have their own style and music, some of their ideas come from Usher's music.
I enjoy listening to Usher's music because it gets me in a good mood. Most of his songs are upbeat and catchy so I find it easy to listen to them.
