She along with Rowland founded the Survivor Foundation in 2005 to provide transitional housing for victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She was named an ambassador for the 2012 World Humanitarian Day campaign for which she donated her song ‘I Was Here’ and its music video

Childhood career

She began performing at age seven, winning over 30 local competitions for her dancing and vocal abilities. She joined her cousin Kelly Rowland and classmates LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett in forming an adolescent vocal group.

Signed to Columbia records in 1997, destiny's child debuted on record that year with the song "killing time” with appeared in the soundtrack to the blockbuster film “Men In Black".mIn 1998 the first Destiny's Child album was released Featuring hit Singles “No No No” and “With Me’ the groups self titled debut went platinum selling three million copies world wide.
