Osborne's husband died quickly into their marriage

The Salem Witch Trial were a series of accusations made against several women who were claimed to have supernatural powers and associate themselves with the devil.

Osborne was born in Watertown Massachusetts in about 1643.

These trials took place in Massachusetts during the mid 1600’s

Believed that psychological issues caused these symptoms, or they girls may have enjoyed the attention they were receiving from fellow villagers.

was known that if you confessed to witchcraft your life would not be taken from you, if you pleaded not guilty you would be hanged.

Osborne was brought to trial with two other women named Tituba and Sarah Good.

Osborne never confessed to witchcraft or attempted to accuse anyone else.

Osborne was one of the first three people accused of witchcraft

Was told to have had pains in her head and in her body from these three women.

Osborne was the only woman in the witch trials to die in jail and not proceed on with her trial.

Accused Osborne of torturing her continuously by pricking and pinching

Testified in April of 1692

This was thought of as betraying her family because she denied her two sons of their wealth and social positions.

Osborne defended herself by saying "the devil could take the shape of mother person without compliance”- a view that eventually prevailed and brought the trials to a halt.

Elizabeth brought Sarah before Salem Village, accusing her of pricking and pinching her dreadfully and continuously.

Osborne was brought before Salem Village by Joseph Herrick Constable and was tried by multiple people who claimed they had been afflicted by Sarah Osborne.

The village looked for "patterns of land tenure and inheritance"

After her husband's death she hired an Irish immigrant named Alexander Osborne to help with farm work.

Osborne married Robert Price, a man who bought a 150 acre farm next to John Putnam.

The towns involved were Salem Village, Ipswich, Andover and Salem Town.

It was believed that these women would use their "powers" to harm others in return for their loyalty

Osborne never came to trial because she died while in prison on May 10,1642 at the age of 49.

She also threatened to growth and stability of the Putnam family and their alliances in Salem village.

She was accused by Thomas and Edward Putnam, Joseph Hutchinson, and Thomas Preston for afflicting Ann Putnam, Betty Parris, Abigail Williams, and Elizabeth Hubbard. .

Rumors were being spread around town that Osborne and her farm helper were living together, so they eventually married.

Osborne was accused on February 25,1691/92.

This accusation was brought to the courts on February 29,1691/92 and was dropped on the day of her examination on March 1,1691/92.

The start of these psychological issues may have rooted from the wheat the puritans used to make bread.

Osborne and Price had two children named James and Joseph.

Salem village was aware of Osborne's fortification with Alexander but also her ability to gain full ownership of her pages husband's land.

This accusation started in February and ended on March 1st
