My Use of Electronic Devices

Who Am I?

Introduction

1. An email account: I use it frequently

(more than 1 X a day) - work email, personal email.

2. A Facebook account: I don't own/use one. I used to have one and know how it works.

3. A Twitter account: I don't own/use one. I used to have one and know how it works.

4. A smart phone: I just got it last month and use it frequently (more than 1X a day).

5. Texting feature on phone: I use it frequently (more than 1X a day).

6. A handheld music device (ipod): I have an iPhone and an iPod. I use it frequently (more than 1X a day).

7. A handheld electronic reader: I don't own one.

  • First time teaching Media and Society!
  • Grew up in Seekonk.
  • Fourth year teaching at NAHS.
  • Live in Providence, RI.
  • Went to UMass-Amherst. I studied Journalism and Comparative Literature, worked at the radio station, wrote for the school newspaper, and helped organize concerts.
  • Am currently going to graduate school at RIC.
  • I have a pug named Zoey.

My Free Time

22. I spend 1-2 hours a day watching TV.

23. I spend 3-4 hours a day on the computer, counting work.

24. I never play video games.

25. I'm always on my phone.

26. I read 1-2 hours a day.

27. During the rest of my free time I go to the movies, watch sports, go to live concerts, and hang with my friends.

Gathering Information

28. I get a moderate amount of information from my friends and parents.

29. I receive almost all my information online.

30. I moderately read the actual physical newspaper.

31. I moderately read physical magazines.

32. I almost never write a note or letter or send a card.

33. I frequently buy CD's. I sometimes buy DVDs. I also buy records/vinyl all the time.

34. I sometimes use the telephone to talk but prefer texting.
