- Students who are very active in extra-curricular activities but who may not have thought how these may translate into securing jobs/ further study.
- Students who lack confidence in getting involved in activities or careers activities.
- Students who would benefit from becoming more ‘well rounded.’
- Those who want to gain a ‘competitive edge’ in their profession.
- Some students may not need the Award and sign up is voluntary.

What is the UEA Award?
Case Study: Nalisha Parmar,
ENV SCI 3rd Year
The UEA Award recognises a range of activities, both academic and extra-curricular, undertaken by UEA students that help develop the skills and attributes for both life and employment when they finish their course.
- 97% said the Award had helped them communicate the skills and attributes they have;
- 94% said the Award helped them possess the skills and attributes required in the workplace;
- 70% said they'd gained an effective CV.
- Nalisha joined the Award after seeing a similar award at the University of Swansea when applying for ENV courses.
- She submitted a range of activities to the Award in relation to her chosen career path: Jailbreak for WaterAid, writing web articles for Hethel Innovation, volunteering for food cycle...
- The Award helped her have a database of activities, CV paragraphs and examples to use which helped her meet deadlines for applications and interviews, including an internship.
- She has moved on to a Masters Degree in Environmental Management and Consultancy.

87% said the Award had helped them learn valuable lessons from their experiences: flexibility;
77% said the Award helped them become stronger by undertaking challenging experiences: resilience;
74% said the Award helped them feel confident in work situations.
- Award has over 1000 registered students already this year (aiming for 1200). Mass engagement award but with clear progression.
- Last year 1030. All faculties, years and Award types.
- Engagement increased from last year to 51% of students (up 5% from 2015-16). Stronger engagement than Awards of similar size.
