Exposition: Odyessus travels to the River of Oceans in the land of Cimmerians. (The Land of the Dead)
Rising Action: Once he is there, he performs the sacrifice that Circe told him to do in order to reach Tiresias, the blind prophet, so he can tell Odysseus his future.
Climax: Tiresias appears after Odysseus finishes the sacrificing his best black lamb. Odysseus then speaks with him and Tiresias says that Poseidon is punishing the Achaeans (Odysseus's men) for blinding his son Polyphemus. Tiresias reveals Odysseus's future, that he will return home to his loving wife ,and then make another trip to the distant land, Thrinacia, to get Poseidon to forgive him. Tiresias also warns Odysseus not to touch the flocks of the Sun when he reaches Thrinacia otherwise, he won’t return home without suffering and loosing a ton of men.
Falling Action: After Odysseus finishes talking to Tiresias, he finds the spirit of one of his soldiers, named Elpenor, who passed away when he fell off of Circe's roof. Elpenor asks Odysseus to return to Circe's island and give his body a proper burial. Odysseus promises him that he will. Then, Odysseus sees his mother and he didn't even know that his mother had passed. She says she died of grief and worry for him. She also says she will try to watch him and protect him anyway she can.
Resolution: Odysseus takes the information he receives from Tiresias and continues on with his journey.

The theme of this episode is Odysseus going through the challenge of telling his men what difficulties and sacrifices they will have to make in order to get home. Odysseus decides not to tell his men what Tiresias, the blind prophet, tells him because he doesn't want to lose any men on his hard journey home.
