A Tremendous Challenge

The Liberals Under The Leadership of Alexander Mackenzie Had Been Governing Canada Since 1873. At This Time Canada Was Basically an Agricultural Country.

Protective Tariffs ,

A Transcontinental Railway

The Building of the Railway was apart of McDonalds National Policy. A Railway would fulfill the Canadian governments promise to British Columbia when it entered confederation.

Immediately after being elected in 1878 MacDonald began working on getting the railway started

In 1880 the canadian pacific railway company was formed

Industrialization
