Skills for becoming an Optometrist
A good skill to become an optometrist is to have good communication skills. You need to be good at communicating because you will be dealing and treating patients all of the time, and you need to have a friendly personality so you aren't being negative to your patients
An Optometrist is a doctor that specializes for eyes. They treat all ages.
Listening is a good skill to have because I always have to listen to my patient concerns and understand what procedures I will have to do.
My Salary
When I'm an optometrist I will make about $50,000 to $150,000 a year. But on average most optometrist makes about $70,000 to $90,000 a year.
Post-secondary education
Once I'm done high school I want to carry on my career by going to Waterloo University. I will be in school for about 7-8 years. First I have to have three years of Bachelor of science, for the rest I will finish off my optometry course.
Another skill is that you need to be very organized because you will be dealing with lots of papers and you should always make sure you know where they are.
An optometrist needs to have the skill of making judgemental decisions because you are trying to decide what would benefit your patient and what wouldn't.
Still not done yet I will have to analyze test results and develop a treatment plan
Finally my day comes to an end after I administer drugs to patients to aid in the diagnosis of the vision problems and prescribe drugs to treat eye diseases

To become an Optometrist here are some courses I should be thinking about taking, many of which are math and science based
I can talk to my eye doctor they can give me information about what the job is like
I can also talk to my science teacher to learn more about the science courses I have to take in high school
I can chat with a doctor so I know whats its like to work in a health place environment
