The Air Conditioner

By- Joshua Pil

  • First created to prevent paper from wrinkling in heat and humidity at the Sackett-Wilhelms Lithographing and Publishing Company
  • Willis discovered that he could pass dry air through water and make it more humid.
  • He realized this while waiting for a train on a foggy Pittsburgh day.
  • Within a year he invented a machine that could change the amount of moisture in the air.

Willis Haviland Carrier

  • Inventor of the modern Air Conditioner
  • Literally the Father Of Cool

Uses of the Air Conditioner

The air conditioner wasn't typically used for human comfort when it was invented. It had more industrial purposes. Companies that produced film, tobacco, processed meats, medical capsules, textiles and other products were flourished and improved greatly in quality now that they had the air conditioner. Home cooling was brought in 1914.

How It Works

Improvements and Timeline of the Air Conditioner

As the world takes its changes, humans do as well. We constantly strive to solve problems and improving inventions and the air conditioner is no exception. The first air conditioners had flaws and could be improved in many places. Nonetheless the invention was a stepping stone to many more.

To create this one must have knowledge of electrical engineering.
