In the Design phase, the team will focused on:

  • Capability and Requirements Design understanding business desires for capabilities within each tool / technology for each workstream
  • Technology Option Identification evaluating training technology possibilities with a tool agnostic approach to ensure that the technologies selected meet NGD’s business and technology objectives

  • Socialize the proposed training technology framework with key stakeholders
  • Provide recommendations for quick-wins and/or proof of concepts
  • Present the final recommendations report

Our end product will:

  • Provide the necessary recommendations and realistic roadmap for NiSource’s new training technology framework to deliver against NiSource’s current learning strategy

Conduct a kick-off meeting, visioning workshops and stakeholder discussions to:

  • Understand business context and as-is processes / technology environment / training pain points and needs
  • Discuss future state desires, regulatory requirements, and analytics
  • Evaluate gaps in the capabilities of the existing training technologies to deliver on the future state requirements
  • Gather existing documentation around existing training technologies, manual processes, and manual documentation
  • Conduct a Current State Technology Assessment

Outputs of these discussions include a defined outlook on NGD’s:

Driving towards “non-traditional” methods of outside the classroom training: videos, analytics driven screen pops and gamification scenarios.

Example: Supplement hands-on training with mobile access to interactive work orders in which the employee navigates through service, safety precautions and critical situations that “pop” during the practice work order.

The training technology framework will be the first step in NiSource’s multi-year investment in an integrated program that supports the upgrading of your training facilities, instructors, and curriculum

Create

After the definition of capabilities, high level requirements and selection of training technologies, the Create phase will focus on the development of the final deliverables. This includes:

  • Consolidation of Findings from Previous Phases to include the Training Solution Strategy and Vision, Solution Capabilities and High Level Requirements and Technical Assessment
  • Technology Recommendations focusing on the technology suite required to support the future state needs for Curriculum, Feedback Loops, Performance Support and Scheduling enhancements
  • Business Case Development to forecast necessary funding along with benefit
  • Roadmap Development illustrating sequenced technology implementations ahead

Think

Based on the outputs from the Learn Phase, we will begin creation of NGD’s training solution vision. This includes:

  • Defining and prioritizing training capabilities for employees and contractors as well as NGD’s desired metrics and analytics
  • Determining a common set of objectives around each of NGD’s focus workstreams – Curriculum, Feedback Loops, Performance Support and Scheduling
  • Gathering industry (both E&U and Learning) best practices around Curriculum, Feedback Loops, Performance Support, Scheduling
  • Understand NGD’s propensity for assumption of new approaches across key areas, including curriculum development and performance support
