Learning Objective: YWBAT create a dimensional sketch of a device (of your choosing).
Essential Question: What tools will allow us to accurately capture a real object's dimensions?
Do Now: (3 min)
Identify everything that is wrong (or out of place) in the orthographic 3-view below.
Unit 5: Drafting
Create a Dimensional Sketch
Part 1 (from our last class):
1. Write down the name of the device for which you are building a stand or case.
2. Describe the problems that you have with using that device.
3. Then describe an ideal case or stand that would allow you to overcome those problems.
4. Use the dimensioning tools that we have (digital calipers, ruler, fillet gauge) to COMPLETELY capture the dimensions of the object (or objects) for which you are creating a case or a stand.
5. Create a rough dimensional sketch of that object, that includes ALL dimensions along side. Be sure to arrange your sketch in a 3 view layout.
Part 2 (due today):
- Create a drafting template (border and title block). This must be done to the correct specifications.
- Create an dimensionally accurate 3-view orthographic drawing from the sketch that you completed on Monday.
