Near where I live, in the city of Queretaro, there's a beautiful small town called Bernal, which is famous for the huge rock that stands there called the La Peña de Bernal. About 12 years ago a friend of mine from home was visiting and we decided to visit La Peña de Bernal. Back then my Spanish wasn't very good. After buying the tickets, we were looking for the bus when a friendly looking driver asked us a question which I assumed to be something like where are you going? In my best Mexican Spanish accent, I said Bernal. The friendly looking driver pointed in the direction of an old blue bus nearby and so we got on. There was only one person sitting on the bus when we got on - an older Mexican lady with a large bag. I was wondering why there were not more people on the bus if Bernal was such a well-known tourist town, I asked the lady a few rows forward if this was the bus for Bernal. Oh no, she exclaimed, este va al penal. I was so embarrassed.
