Thales was born in 624B.C and died in 547 B.C. He belonged to the Milesian School of thought. Known as the to be one of the first Greek philosophers. Believed to be a teacher of Anaximander. Although he was the first natural philosopher in the Milesian School none of his writings had survived.

The major Philosophers pf the Milesian School are Thales, Anaximander,and Anaximenes. They introduced new options on how the world was created. And also brought up the idea of natural phenomena.
Thales believed that the earth was floating on water.
Anaximander believed that the earth was composed of hollow,concentric wheels filled with fire.
Anaximenes saw the sun and moon as flat disks traveling around a heavenly canopy on which the stars were made.
BACKROUND
This school of thought was founded in the sixthcentury, located in the lonian town of Miletus( which is now modern turkey). Thales, Anaximander,and Anaximenes were the major philosophers of the Milesian School.
