First Round of Globalization

The Silk Road

Taking An Historical Perspective

King Leopold

In the years of Columbus, and King Leopold slavery was an acceptable thing. And that is because of the morals, and the lifestyle they have grown up in. The fact that slavery was acceptable back then gives us a perspective on how the lifestyle was back then. This gives us a better understanding of it. It lets us see how things have changed in our world today.

King Leopold had slaves to do his work for him. They made rubber.

This lead to the Industrial Revolution

The silk road lead to the industrial revolution because it brought new technologies, and items to different places in the world.

Slavery

He wanted to migration his people into Africa so he could take over Africa, and use their resources.

The Industrial Revolution

The Industrial Revolution helped people migrate better because the transportion and the technologies got better which made traveling safer, and it made it more quick and efficant.

People during the grand exchange also started to trade slaves.

This helped more goods to be avalible to different parts of the world.

Without migration, colonies wouldn't be possible. Migration is key to colonies because a colony is a group of people who leave their native country to go somewhere else to live in a different nation. Which migration is people leaving their current placement to go live somewhere else.

Colonies

Moral Dimensions of History

Migration

a group of people who leave their native country to form in a new land a settlement subject to, or connected with, the parent nation.

To go from one country, region, or place to another.

Second Round of Globalization

Continuity & Change

We can learn not to think of people as not human, and that we are like gods. Because no good has ever come out of this.

"the Spaniards still do nothing safe tear the natives to shreads, murder them, and inflict upon them untold misery, suffering, and distress, tormention, harrying, and persecuting them mercilessly." - las Cassas

Migration is connected to depopulation because migration can be the cause of depopulation because migration is people leaving their home country to go live in another. The population of the home country goes down because of the people who have left.

The Grand Exchange is connected to Capitalism because the Grand Exchange was free trade between the two countries. It wasn't forced. And the government wasn't in control of it.

Imperialism

We can learn not to let greed get into our way of seeing what is right. This happened with the Europeans. They believed that they were like gods to the Aborginals, and that they could get what they want from them at no cost.

"The reason the Christians have murdered on such a vasy scale and killed anyone and everyone in their way is purely and simply greed". - las Cassas

Greed is what started it. And we can change ourselves to make sure this does not happen again.

Opposite of

Capitalism

Grand Exchange

These two connect because the Grand Exchange has evidence all around us. Like everyday stuff we use, like kitchen ware. Before the Europeans came to the New Found Land the Aborginals didn't have any metal pots to cook in. This is just one example, there is so much evidence around us.

An economic system that advocates free trade, competitions and choice as a means of achieving prosperity.

A trading process that began when Christopher Columbus brought seeds, fruit tress, and livestock to the Americans, where they were cultivated and became staples. In return, native North Americans species were exported to Europe. This exchange expanded to include different countries and products around the world.

One country’s domination over another country’s economic, political, and cultural institutions.

Primary Source Evidence

Leads to White Man's Burden.

These two connect because this is how things are today.

Imperialism is much like these "know" terms.

Mercantilism is conected to capitalism because they are both econmic styles.

White Man's Burden

Third Round of Globalization

Because of the mind set of the Bristish, The White Man's Burden caused depopulation in the Native population.

A policy followed by European Imperial powers from the 16th to the 19th century. In colonies, trade was strictly controlled to benefit the economy of the imperial power.

We learn about this because we learn that the decisions the European's made about the Aborginals affects our world today. We learn about the history that has had a huge impact on the world we live in today, and things that have shaped it into what it is today.

Mercantilism

Colonialism

Depopulation

To get rid of population, weither it be humans doing it or natural causes.

Depopulation connects with displacement because when people are displaced (when people move) the population goes down.

the control or governing influence of a nation over a dependent country, territory, or people.

Historical Significance

Displacement

the state of being displaced or the amount or degree to which something is displaced.

The White Man's burden connects to Cause and Conquence because the Aborginals wouldn't agree to conform completely with the European's ways. This caused the Europeans to be angered. Which lead to the Europeas whiping out most of the Aborginals.
