She (Mary) described herself as Creole a child of different parental skin color. In 1821, Mary left for London and then returned to her home in Jamaica. Her mother was a doctor and used traditional herbal remedies to heal anyone who came to Blundell hall the area she occupied to run her boarding school and heal. It was considered one of the best hotels in the whole of Kingston.
After she returned to Jamaica, she returned to Blundell hall and worked alongside with her mother. She was occasionally summoned to assist the British hospital. In 1836 10th of November she took hand in marriage to Edwin Horatio Hamilton Seacole. A series of unfortunate a events followed for Mary. In 1843 the Blundell hall, that her mother so lovingly tended to burnt down. in 1844 a new Blundell hall was built but her life's home was destroyed. Nothing could re-establish that love. Mary Jane Seacole was a famous Jamaican nurse. if you haven't heard of her then she's not that famous to you don't worry. I'm going to show you why exactly she's famous for and give you a short preview of her life. You may want to take notes because at the end there's going to be a quiz. She was a fascinating person and if you love this prezi, please tick this box ;).
This war in particular was what made Mary so famous. The war lasted October 1553 till April 1556. That entire time Mary was working and tending to soldiers just 2 miles of the battlefield. She risked her life to save others and that made her a heroine. That entire time she witnessed so many excruciating painful deaths. She could have possibly felt like she lost Edward and her mother all over again.
It wasn't fun and games in the war especially for Mary. Nearly half of her died in war on the spot, or slowly dying in her arms. Not to mention, when she applied for Florence Nightingale's crew she got rejected as she wasn't " brought up in the British society" even though her father was Scottish. Life was tough in the middle ages.
