Magic Tree house: Twister on Tuesday
Author: Mary Pope Osborne
Setting:
It was in the prairies, and it was like a grass land, with few trees and lots of dirt. This made it easier for the wagon train to travel. The wagon train was going to Kansas state and the few trees and dirt made the traveling go faster.
Characters:
Jack-he was helping the kids get into the storm cellar. I like this character because he helps people with hard stuff.
Annie-she was worrying about the class in the school house to warn them about the twister if they did not know yet. I like this character because she warns people of whats gonna happen.
Jeb-he was a bully that never went to school so he said shut up to Will
These characters are involved because,
Jack and Annie are brother and sister. Jack was trying to be friends with Jeb.
Problem:
Right after the schools lunch Jack and Annie had to go, but when they got to the tree house there was a twister, so Annie told Jack that they have to go back to the school house and warn the other kids, and Miss Neely if they did not know about the twister. The twister was making Jack and Annie almost fly off the ground and they were trying a lot of times to get there.
Conclusion:
Jack and Annie went back to the school house and warned the kids and Miss Neely about the storm cellar and got into the storm cellar and survived the twister. Jack made friends with Jeb, and wanted to see how Jack and Annie new about the storm cellar.
In-depth study:
In this book it has the state of Kansas where my great grandfather was born. Kansas state is known as the sunfower state. Between 1861-1865 there was a civil war in the United States. The population in Kansas grew rapidly. In 1929 the great depression began. There very few jobs and little food in Kansas, so my great grandfather's family moved to southern Saskachewan. They became wheat farmers.
