THE SPRING CELEBRATION

  • Women are usually in charge of the household works whereas men goes out for work.
  • At weddings or on important holidays, food plays an important role.
  • At wedding, the common good is Biryani.
  • It is the first day of Pohela Falgun.
  • People celebrates the first day of falgun, to welcome spring, the season of flowers.

RELIGION

  • Bangladesh is a muslim country where it celebrates all the festivals of Islam.
  • The two main festivals of Islam are Eid Ul Fitr and Eid Ul Azha.
  • The Budhist celebrates Budho Purnima and the Christians celebrates Christmas.
  • These are just a few of the religious festivals and feasts that the people of Bangladesh celebrates.

EXAMPLE OF A RELIGIOUS FESTIVAL

  • Eid-Ul-Azha is also called the 'Sacrifice Fest'.
  • It is a Muslim festival is celebrated worldwide each year.
  • It lasts for 3 days.
  • People sacrifices animals that are halal in Islam religion e.g. cow, goat,camel.

TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE CEREMONY

A traditional marriage in Bangladesh is normally arranged by the 'Ghotoks' who are usually the friends or relatives of the couple's family. Earlier in the past, the bride's family has to pay a certain amount of money to the groom's family as a settlement of the marriage.

INTRODUCTION

The culture of Bangladesh basically refers to the way of life that the people of Bangladesh leads. Bangladesh's language, religion, food and customs differ from people to people.

The weddings are usually in four parts.

  • The bride's Gaye Holud
  • The Groom's Gaye Holud
  • Nikkah
  • Reception

Bangladesh has some very unique culture and traditions. Some of the traditions are very ancient while others are relatively recent. Religion has played an important role in shaping the traditions of bangladesh.
