GROUP A KOPPEN CLIMATE
Impact on Humans
I choose koppens climate group A because it is tropical areas like hawaii or parts of flordia and Bsk that i have reasearched is more dry areas like barren desserts or grasslands.
Humans in the tempurature zone BSk experience not to hot summers and semi cold winters not to terrible cold winters but cold. They also experience (in some areas grasslands) and (in some barren dry areas).
Factors Controlling Climate
FOOD WEB
BSk is a semiarid climate usually found in the middle latitudes. Potential evapotranspiration exceeds precipitation on average but the difference between these two measures is less than what is found in a BWk climate. Annual average temperature is below 18°C (64°F).
Weather is transitional between deserts and humid climates. Dominance of the Subtropical High Pressure Zone occurs during most of the year. Precipitation comes from brief incursions of the Intertropical Convergence Zone or from sporadic mid-latitude cyclones. Locations are often far inland (continentality) and influenced by rain shadow effect.
Climograph of BSk:
Floral and Fauna
Fauna=The temperate grassland fauna is very low in diversity, especially in comparison with the tropical grasslands or savannas of Africa. In North America the dominant herbivores are Bison and pronghorn.
Floral= Semiarid, continental climates of the middle latitudes (Koeppen’s BSk climate type) typically have between 10 and 20 inches of precipitation a year. Much of this falls as snow, serving as reservoir of moisture for the beginning of the growing season. Warm to hot summers are experienced, depending on latitude.
MAP OF BSk:
Vegetation=Perennial grasses and perennial forbs [especially Compositae (or Asteraceae, depending on the taxonomic system used) and Leguminosae--the sunflower and pea families, respectively] are dominant growthforms. Two or more strata of grasses (erect grasses and recumbent species) are recognized in the more humid expressions of the biome.
BSk
B -DRY CLIMATES
*it is not defined on the basis of tempurature
It includes arid and semi arid (some with grasses) climates of low and middle latitude
Evaportranspiration>annual precipitation
The areas the arrows are pointing are BSk
Evaportranspiration=the process by which water is transferred from the land to the atmosphere by evaporation from the soil and other surfaces and by transpiration from plants.
What does Arid mean?
Arid=being without moisture; extremely dry; parched: arid land; an arid climate.
OR
barren or unproductive because of lack of moisture: arid farmland.
