Computer viruses/worms are associated with your personal privacy because they attempt to be involved into everyday things such as checking your emails or advertisements on sites that you go to daily.

How to prevent "Chernobyl":

  • Install Anti Virus software
  • Check launching software with anti virus program
  • Spam unknown/suspicious email senders immediately
  • If you do get the worm, DO NOT OPEN ANYTHING. Use a Removal Tool if possible.

Ways to avoid being tricked into this virus:

  • Avoid launching software without checking with anti virus first
  • Do not open email attachments from unknown senders. Spam it.
  • Enforce a password policy.

"Chernobyl"

  • CLH* is a computer virus that surfaced in 1998 and was triggered April 16, 1999. The anniversary of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear reactor.
  • It was created by Chen Ing-hau, a student at Tatung University in Taiwan.
  • 60M computers were estimated to be infected by the virus internationally.
  • There was an estimated $1 billion in commercial damages.
  • First virus to damage computer hardware
