The smooth serves a vital role in the detoxification of chemicals. This role can be to be the equivalent of nurses in a hospital. Nurses evaluate and take care of patients They also serve in healing and promoting the well-being of those in a hospital.

The main function of the rough endoplasmic reticulum is to manufacture proteins. In this sense, the rough er serves a similar purpose as the sick wards as and the hospital rooms. These structures house patients who are the proteins in our analogy

Hospital Cell Analogy

Cytoskeleton

the cytoskeleton is like the inner walls of the hospital because it protects and supports the inside of the inside of the hospital. And the cytoskeleton protects and supports the cell.

Central Vacuole

Chloroplast

Cytoplasm

hh

The cytoplasm is like the patients because the patients hold everything together because without the patients there wouldn"t be a hospital.

Cell Wall

The chloroplast is like the solar panels because the solar panels are used for energy. Like the chloroplast is used for photosynthesis to make energy.

The cell wall is like the outer walls of the hospital, it provides structure and overall support to the organelles inside as the hospital wall protects people and equipment from the outside environment.

The central vacuole inside a plant cell is like the hospital's housekeeping staff. Like the vacuole, the housekeeping staff keeps the hospital clean and throws out any unwanted waste.

Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum

Cell Membrane

The cell membrane acts as a series of entrances and exits that allow substances to go in and out of the cell. This organelle provides protection for the cell to the external environment.

The cell membrane are like hospital doors in a hospital. They regulate what goes in and out of the hospital. These doors help keep the hospital sterile inside and help contain outbreaks.

Mitochondria

The mitochondria in a plant cell is the energy producer. It gives the cell the energy to survive and function. Like the mitochondria, the hospital's electricity and power generators produce the energy needed to keep the hospital working.

Nucleus

The nucleus is only found in eukaryote cells and it acts as the control centre for all cell functions. As well, it contains cell hereditary material.

The equivalent of the nucleus in the hospital is the Chief of Staff (in a hospital). This person is the primary leader of all the different divisions in the hospital. As well, this person coordinates the function of the hospital.

Nucleolus

The nucleolus is located in the nucleus and its main purpose is to transcribe RNA and to combine it with proteins which results in partially formed ribosomes. The equivalent of the nucleolus in a hospital environment is the data files kept of each patient and the chief of administration. The data files are then used to help understand and form a more comprehensive study of a patient

Golgi Apparatus

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum

Lysosome

The lysosome's job in the plant cell is to dispose of all the harmful bacteria in the cell. Like the lysosome, the incinerator in the hospital gets rid of all the waste that could be harmful and dangerous to the hospital community.

The golgi apparatus modifies, sorts and packages proteins for secretion. Like the golgi apparatus, the hospital's mail department is in charge of sorting, packaging and sending out important mail.

Ribosome

Inside a plant cell, ribosomes are in charge of helping the proteins in amino acid chains. The ribosomes are located in the rough endoplasmic reticulum which is like the hospital rooms. Like ribosomes, doctors aid the patients in their rooms by giving them the medicine and treatment they need to build stronger bodies.
