Have you ever wondered how much writing is in your
- 00:03 - 00:03
everyday life?
- 00:04 - 00:06
I'm Austin, and I will tell you about it first.
- 00:07 - 00:09
Google Scholar had very good articles.
- 00:10 - 00:14
Um, it was helpful because of covert 19, um, in
- 00:14 - 00:17
person and random interviews were hard to come by because
- 00:17 - 00:20
not very many people are walking around, but had some
- 00:20 - 00:24
very, um, insightful articles with information that helped me in
- 00:24 - 00:25
my process.
- 00:27 - 00:28
Next is the different majors.
- 00:29 - 00:32
I interviewed a handful of friends somewhat over the phone,
- 00:32 - 00:36
some in person that could were okay with wearing a
- 00:36 - 00:38
mask with me and could shed some light on how
- 00:39 - 00:42
much writing was in, um there, major and everything.
- 00:43 - 00:46
So Ah, a couple of my friends were biotechnology, aeronautics,
- 00:47 - 00:50
photography, and then I am information technology.
- 00:53 - 00:57
So our experiences for aeronautics It was a lot of
- 00:57 - 01:00
writing with lots of detail, um, started out fun, and
- 01:00 - 01:02
now was just a tedious process.
- 01:03 - 01:06
They told me about how it was writing about all
- 01:06 - 01:10
the instruments on the plane and all the different types
- 01:10 - 01:12
of clouds and what it takes to drive through them
- 01:13 - 01:14
and what it did all of their charts.
- 01:14 - 01:16
And just how much detail was in it.
- 01:17 - 01:21
Photography major friend was said there was hardly any writing
- 01:22 - 01:23
was mostly just hands on picture taking.
- 01:24 - 01:25
And you're writing that they had to do was annoying
- 01:26 - 01:27
because it's photography.
- 01:27 - 01:31
Other than a title here or there, what exactly do
- 01:31 - 01:31
you have to write?
- 01:33 - 01:36
Um, the Biotechnology one said there was lots of writing
- 01:37 - 01:38
with long papers with lots of details.
- 01:39 - 01:42
I, I asked them, explained a little bit what the
- 01:42 - 01:45
aeronautics major said, and they kind of sort of agreed,
- 01:45 - 01:46
but said it was.
- 01:46 - 01:50
It was never really fun, never fun, not even starting
- 01:50 - 01:52
out. And it was just always stressful with all the
- 01:52 - 01:55
details that had to be in these long papers and
- 01:55 - 01:57
then I at the bottom and I t major hardly
- 01:58 - 01:58
any writing.
- 01:59 - 02:01
But when I did have to write, it was always
- 02:02 - 02:05
a lot of detail, lots of computer parts and computer
- 02:06 - 02:09
terms, not extremely fun, but not really stressful.
- 02:10 - 02:11
First because I enjoyed it, and I know I'm sure
- 02:12 - 02:14
the aeronautics major and everyone enjoyed it.
- 02:14 - 02:17
But just because computer parts are not like that stressful
- 02:18 - 02:21
to talk about or write about, it's just parts of
- 02:21 - 02:21
the computer.
- 02:24 - 02:25
Next would be my methods.
- 02:26 - 02:28
Um, like I said, the interviews with the close friends,
- 02:28 - 02:31
Um, the biotechnology actually was a friend of a friend,
- 02:32 - 02:34
so basically a stranger, and they hooked me up with
- 02:35 - 02:37
a zoom meeting so that we could get that taken
- 02:37 - 02:37
care off.
- 02:38 - 02:41
I mentioned beginning Google Scholar, so that was very, very
- 02:41 - 02:45
helpful for just getting some background on the questions to
- 02:45 - 02:46
ask my friends when I interviewed them.
- 02:47 - 02:49
And lastly, was my own experiences.
- 02:56 - 02:58
Um, thank you for listening.
- 02:59 - 03:02
And I hope this was very informative for you on
- 03:02 - 03:06
how writing has been in your life basically all of
- 03:06 - 03:07
your school career.
