Good morning my friends and welcome to another
- 00:05 - 00:08
day of mindful mornings where we are practicing
- 00:09 - 00:10
mindfulness
- 00:10 - 00:12
and mindfulness means
- 00:12 - 00:13
to be calm
- 00:14 - 00:18
to be aware of where you are, who you're with,
- 00:19 - 00:25
what you're saying, what you're thinking, what your body is feeling, how you feel.
- 00:26 - 00:27
All of that is being
- 00:28 - 00:29
mindful.
- 00:29 - 00:34
It means listening to the things around you and paying close attention
- 00:34 - 00:35
to where you are.
- 00:36 - 00:39
So for today's mindfulness activity friends,
- 00:39 - 00:42
I'm going to bring out our mindfulness jaw.
- 00:42 - 00:45
So we'll start by taking our deep breath in
- 00:48 - 00:49
and out
- 00:51 - 00:55
and we can also practice more breathing as we watch the mindfulness teacher.
- 00:57 - 01:01
So our mindfulness jar helps us be mindful
- 01:02 - 01:06
because when we have so many thoughts and worries
- 01:06 - 01:09
and just things that we're thinking about constantly.
- 01:10 - 01:12
It feels like a tornado
- 01:13 - 01:13
in our head
- 01:14 - 01:15
in our minds.
- 01:15 - 01:19
So if you imagine that this is your brain, this is your mind
- 01:19 - 01:21
and there's so many things you're thinking about
- 01:22 - 01:28
like summer and homework and grades and our friends and our family, our parents,
- 01:28 - 01:33
our pets, that thing that happened yesterday, that thing that happened last week.
- 01:33 - 01:35
All the things that we're going to think about for next week,
- 01:36 - 01:40
all of those responsibilities and worries and thoughts
- 01:41 - 01:42
you can make it feel
- 01:42 - 01:44
like our brain is in a tornado
- 01:45 - 01:50
and we can't really think or learn very well if our minds are in a tornado.
- 01:51 - 01:54
So mindfulness jars, help us imagine
- 01:55 - 01:56
all those worries,
- 01:57 - 01:58
all those thoughts,
- 01:59 - 02:03
all of those fears and responsibilities and things
- 02:03 - 02:06
that are just weighing on our shoulders,
- 02:08 - 02:10
they help us imagine them slowly
- 02:10 - 02:11
coming down.
- 02:13 - 02:14
So if you notice
- 02:15 - 02:16
all the glitter
- 02:17 - 02:18
is slowly coming down
- 02:19 - 02:21
and the jar is getting clearer
- 02:21 - 02:22
and clearer,
- 02:23 - 02:25
just like our minds get more clear
- 02:26 - 02:28
when we take the time to be mindful
- 02:29 - 02:30
and calm our bodies
- 02:32 - 02:33
and breathe.
- 02:34 - 02:36
Eventually the glitter comes down,
- 02:36 - 02:37
they're still there.
- 02:38 - 02:39
That doesn't mean they're not going to get done.
- 02:41 - 02:43
We're not going to think about them anymore,
- 02:44 - 02:47
but they're more towards the bottom and they leave space
- 02:47 - 02:49
for us to be able to think clearly
- 02:49 - 02:51
about whatever is going on.
- 02:51 - 02:55
So next time you feel like your mind is in a tornado,
- 02:56 - 02:59
you can imagine all of those worries
- 03:00 - 03:01
coming down.
- 03:01 - 03:03
They were in a mindfulness jar
- 03:03 - 03:04
and they're settling
- 03:05 - 03:07
and you're able to start to think
- 03:07 - 03:08
more clearly
- 03:09 - 03:10
as the drug clears.
- 03:12 - 03:14
So that was our mindfulness activity.
- 03:14 - 03:18
Let's go ahead and move on to our affirmations for the day.
- 03:18 - 03:20
Go ahead and repeat after me. Friends,
- 03:21 - 03:22
I
- 03:22 - 03:23
am a leader.
- 03:24 - 03:25
I am a leader.
- 03:27 - 03:28
I am a learner.
- 03:29 - 03:30
I am a learner.
- 03:32 - 03:33
I
- 03:33 - 03:34
am important.
- 03:35 - 03:36
I am
- 03:36 - 03:37
important.

- 03:44 - 03:46
That was our mindful mornings for today.
