Hi everyone. Welcome to this month's department Education.
- 00:04 - 00:07
This is a special month because March is national nutrition month.
- 00:07 - 00:10
This celebration was started by the Academy of nutrition and Dietetics to
- 00:10 - 00:13
advocate for nutrition education and promote
- 00:13 - 00:15
beneficial eating choices and behaviors.
- 00:15 - 00:17
So today we'd like to honor this tradition by
- 00:17 - 00:20
breaking down Penn State's approach to performance nutrition.
- 00:21 - 00:24
My name is Maddie nickel and I'm a dietetic intern with performance nutrition.
- 00:24 - 00:27

- 00:34 - 00:36
I also just exhausted my collegiate eligibility with
- 00:36 - 00:39
Penn State last summer after a great experience
- 00:39 - 00:43
of being on the track and field team for six years competing as a heptathlete.
- 00:43 - 00:46
So I now have had experience on both sides of performance
- 00:46 - 00:49
nutrition behind the scenes with the staff and as an athlete.
- 00:49 - 00:51
And I'm looking forward to breaking down our
- 00:51 - 00:54
definition of performance nutrition here at Penn State.
- 00:55 - 00:59
So let's start by asking ourselves, what is performance nutrition
