Hello and welcome to worldwide radiology.
- 00:04 - 00:08
I am dr Ivan Sabac, a registered radiologic technologist, medical
- 00:09 - 00:10
doctor and founder of worldwide radiology.
- 00:12 - 00:13
I'm here to not only welcome you to the team,
- 00:14 - 00:15
but to tell you how I got in this position
- 00:16 - 00:17
and exactly what it took to get here.
- 00:18 - 00:19
It took me a quarter of my life to realize
- 00:20 - 00:21
what I wanted to do.
- 00:22 - 00:23
More importantly, what I needed to do.
- 00:24 - 00:27
As a young college student at Valencia College, I had
- 00:27 - 00:29
little to no idea what my future looked like.
- 00:29 - 00:32
I had no plan but I knew one thing for
- 00:32 - 00:35
sure. I wanted to do something that was worth doing
- 00:36 - 00:40
something of substance and meaning it was around this time
- 00:41 - 00:42
that my family received devastating news.
- 00:44 - 00:47
Her mother was diagnosed stage four colon cancer and needed
- 00:47 - 00:48
to have emergency cancer surgery.
- 00:49 - 00:51
Within a week of the diagnosis to remove a large
- 00:51 - 00:52
tumor from her colon.
- 00:53 - 00:55
It was scheduled to be a three hour procedure turned
- 00:56 - 00:58
into a seven hour nightmare where I, for the first
- 00:59 - 01:02
time in my life to contemplate a life without my
- 01:02 - 01:07
mother. Every part of this experience changed my life forever.
- 01:08 - 01:12
Okay early in the experience a lapse in coverage led
- 01:12 - 01:15
to the hospital discharging my mom before full recovery.
- 01:16 - 01:19
Not even two days after the discharge, my mom caught
- 01:20 - 01:21
an infection on the primary wound on her stomach.
- 01:22 - 01:23
I had to be rushed into the E.
- 01:23 - 01:28
R. For an emergency procedure somewhere in the recovery process
- 01:28 - 01:28
of all that.
- 01:29 - 01:31
My mom was scheduled to start both chemotherapy and radiation
- 01:32 - 01:33
treatment simultaneously.
- 01:34 - 01:37
I cannot comprehend where my mother's strength comes from or
- 01:38 - 01:40
how she was able to tolerate so much pain for
- 01:40 - 01:41
such an extended period of time.
- 01:42 - 01:43
There were so many questions that I couldn't wrap my
- 01:44 - 01:46
head around like why her a woman who was a
- 01:46 - 01:49
straight edge life who worked so much we love so
- 01:49 - 01:51
hard, Who puts everybody before herself?
- 01:52 - 01:53
I wondered to myself how this even happened.
- 01:54 - 01:56
These questions led me to question in my own future
- 01:57 - 01:58
and what I could provide to this planet.
- 01:59 - 02:01
It was at this point in my life that I
- 02:01 - 02:01
found my purpose.
- 02:02 - 02:06
My purpose in life is to create innovative technology, solutions
- 02:07 - 02:11
to adaptability and discipline, to improve the quality of life
- 02:11 - 02:13
for my patients and people all around the world.
- 02:15 - 02:18
A path to success was not without obstacles.
- 02:19 - 02:24
Hard work trials and tribulations, blood, sweat and literal tears
- 02:24 - 02:29
started in Orlando florida valencia College as a struggle to
- 02:29 - 02:30
get my associate of Arts degree.
- 02:30 - 02:32
I found myself in a class called New student experience.
- 02:34 - 02:35
It was in that class that I became aware of.
- 02:35 - 02:41
My potential through assessments like Clifton strengths inventory, interest reports,
- 02:42 - 02:44
my plan, activities and student life map.
- 02:44 - 02:47
I was able to engage my abilities and create a
- 02:47 - 02:47
real plan for myself.
- 02:49 - 02:52
These exercises, activities, assessments and reports gave me an array
- 02:52 - 02:53
of results and descriptions.
- 02:55 - 03:04
These descriptions range from realistic investigative, artistic, enterprising, independent, Okay
- 03:04 - 03:07
it and a hard worker, among many, many other things.
- 03:08 - 03:10
This type of feedback was even more fuel for my
- 03:10 - 03:14
fire. The new student experience class opened my eyes about
- 03:14 - 03:17
the plethora plethora of resources available at Valencia College.
- 03:19 - 03:23
These resources include the career and answer center, the life
- 03:23 - 03:28
Map, my plan, the many reliable guidance counselors tutoring both
- 03:28 - 03:33
in person and online, extensive library and literary access pay
- 03:33 - 03:38
walls and many, many more useful tools that helped create
- 03:38 - 03:38
my success.
- 03:42 - 03:43
It's no secret that college is expensive.
- 03:44 - 03:45
That only gets worse as you progress.
- 03:47 - 03:48
The cost of college was the biggest obstacle for me.
- 03:49 - 03:52
I am the son of two Ukrainian immigrants who came
- 03:53 - 03:53
to this country.
- 03:53 - 03:57
Little to no money and two very, very young Children.
- 03:58 - 03:59
I've never experienced financial stability.
- 04:01 - 04:04
I literally registered for classes $0 in my bank and
- 04:05 - 04:07
impatiently waiting for my financial aid results.
- 04:08 - 04:11
I pay for my education in valencia by working a
- 04:11 - 04:14
full time job in the food industry with minimal financial
- 04:14 - 04:14
aid supporter.
- 04:16 - 04:17
There are a couple of pell grants that I applied
- 04:18 - 04:22
for and that I was awarded were a huge help,
- 04:22 - 04:25
but it wasn't much when I transferred to advent Health
- 04:25 - 04:29
University and to I entered a hard period of my
- 04:29 - 04:32
life, financially much worse than I had experienced before.
- 04:34 - 04:37
But then I was offered an internship in the radiology
- 04:37 - 04:41
department. I had to sacrifice hours of a job where
- 04:41 - 04:42
I did not get paid.
- 04:43 - 04:46
Yeah. For a job where I do get paid.
- 04:46 - 04:48
Obviously it was an opportunity I had to take.
- 04:49 - 04:52
So I set back my hours at the restaurant that
- 04:52 - 04:53
I worked at and started working part time.
- 04:55 - 04:57
Because of the cash setback I had to find an
- 04:57 - 04:59
alternative way to pay for school because working part time
- 05:00 - 05:01
would barely cover my living expenses.
- 05:02 - 05:05
My solution was to apply for every scholarship grant, financial
- 05:05 - 05:07
aid and even loan if necessary.
- 05:08 - 05:10
I received tens and thousands of dollars of scholarship money
- 05:11 - 05:13
because I believe the world was financially rewarding me for
- 05:13 - 05:14
all my hard work.
- 05:15 - 05:20
These scholarships included bright futures, raised me merit leadership pell
- 05:20 - 05:22
grants, among others.
- 05:23 - 05:26
Yeah, my internship became a real job eventually.
- 05:28 - 05:28
And a good one.
- 05:29 - 05:30
For the first time.
- 05:30 - 05:30
I love had stability.
- 05:31 - 05:32
I was prepared, confident and unstoppable.
- 05:34 - 05:37
Applied to the University of florida College of Medicine and
- 05:37 - 05:40
transferred my wrapped up position to an advent health hospital
- 05:41 - 05:41
in Gainesville.
- 05:42 - 05:44
Finally, I was able to pay for school with my
- 05:44 - 05:44
own money.
- 05:45 - 05:47
Though I still applied for financial aid that was made
- 05:47 - 05:54
available to the career center allowed me to evaluate majors
- 05:54 - 05:55
that related to my career choice.
- 05:56 - 05:58
The life map provided me with assessments that didn't tell
- 05:58 - 05:59
my strength and traits.
- 05:59 - 06:01
Help with these resources.
- 06:01 - 06:05
I was able to obtain my Associate of Arts degree
- 06:06 - 06:08
and transferred to Adult Health University to pursue my bachelor's
- 06:09 - 06:09
degree and certification.
- 06:12 - 06:15
Yeah. Even though I achieved something that I wanted so
- 06:15 - 06:17
bad, I wanted to perfect my craft.
- 06:18 - 06:21
So I took a position with the promotion, having health
- 06:21 - 06:24
as a rat trap And I continue my education as
- 06:24 - 06:25
I pursued my masters.
- 06:25 - 06:27
Following my masters, I thought it was time for a
- 06:27 - 06:29
change. So I transferred to U.F.
- 06:30 - 06:33
where I received my doc trip roughly 12 years of
- 06:33 - 06:35
education later I was contacted the tools to change the
- 06:35 - 06:41
world. Earning my credentials was a major accomplishment of my
- 06:41 - 06:46
journey. Earning those credentials credentials open more opportunities than I
- 06:46 - 06:46
could ever imagine.
- 06:47 - 06:50
I was licensed and ready to make large contributions to
- 06:50 - 06:52
health science and imaging worlds.
- 06:54 - 06:57
I would eventually open my own practice, which turned into
- 06:57 - 07:01
my own complex And that would be called worldwide radiology.
- 07:02 - 07:05
Cherry picked my favorite former classmates and created the perfect
- 07:05 - 07:08
18 to be a part of this team.
- 07:09 - 07:12
There are certain expectations that must be maintained and maximize
- 07:12 - 07:13
to propel this mission forward.
- 07:14 - 07:18
Yeah. Performing diagnostic imaging procedures such as M.
- 07:18 - 07:18

- 07:18 - 07:18

- 07:33 - 07:36
