Hello, everyone.
- 00:01 - 00:06
Welcome to Tuesday wth E second day off National Children's
- 00:06 - 00:07
Mental Health Week.
- 00:08 - 00:12
So yesterday I gave you the virtual assembly from the
- 00:13 - 00:16
charity Ah, place to be a fantastic charity.
- 00:17 - 00:20
I've actually done some training through them before to become
- 00:20 - 00:24
a mental health champion, So I hope you found yesterday's
- 00:24 - 00:26
video helpful on dhe useful.
- 00:27 - 00:32
The link underneath this assembly is linked to what I'm
- 00:32 - 00:35
about to talk about today, so you don't have to
- 00:35 - 00:35
watch it.
- 00:36 - 00:37
But it's about 10 minutes long.
- 00:38 - 00:40
Andi, I'll explain a little bit more about what that's
- 00:41 - 00:42
about in just a moment.
- 00:43 - 00:48
So the theme for Children's Mental Health Week is all
- 00:48 - 00:52
about expressing yourself and thinking about How do you express
- 00:52 - 00:54
yourself on?
- 00:54 - 00:55
What do you like to do?
- 00:56 - 01:02
So thinking about my positive mental well being, there are
- 01:02 - 01:04
there are a few things that are really important to
- 01:04 - 01:07
me. So I thought I would share those with you
- 01:07 - 01:12
today that helped me keep feeling positive and happy on
- 01:12 - 01:14
Dhe by the choice of my activities.
- 01:14 - 01:15
Quite tired as well.
- 01:16 - 01:18
So you can see here next to May Children.
- 01:19 - 01:23
Most of you know that I try to dio Cem
- 01:23 - 01:23
running on.
- 01:24 - 01:28
I also enjoy walking, which is, um, fantastic during another
- 01:29 - 01:29
lock down period.
- 01:31 - 01:34
So actually, at the moment I've set myself a challenge.
- 01:35 - 01:38
It's a virtual challenge that I cover the distance this
- 01:38 - 01:41
year from Land's End, right?
- 01:41 - 01:44
That's the most southerly tip of our country, and Cornwall
- 01:45 - 01:47
all the way up to John O Groats, the most
- 01:47 - 01:53
northerly tip off Scotland, which is round about 850 miles.
- 01:53 - 01:56
I can't remember the exact distance now, So I've been
- 01:56 - 01:57
working on.
- 01:57 - 02:02
I'm working across this year on covering that distance, either
- 02:02 - 02:03
walking or running.
- 02:04 - 02:07
So I'm tracking my Miles in January.
- 02:08 - 02:13
I've managed to do 62 miles, so a reasonable start,
- 02:13 - 02:15
but I've still got some work to dio.
- 02:16 - 02:19
But the reason I'm sharing that with you because perhaps
- 02:19 - 02:22
not necessarily one of the ways I express myself, but
- 02:22 - 02:24
one of the ways that I, as I've said, keeps
- 02:25 - 02:28
me feeling positive is is exercise.
- 02:29 - 02:31
Eso the picture next to me.
- 02:31 - 02:38
Here was a selfie I took in August 2019, and
- 02:39 - 02:40
you can see there that I've got a 50 kilometer
- 02:41 - 02:43
signed by my head on the lady next to me.
- 02:44 - 02:45
She's called Katie.
- 02:45 - 02:48
She's my She's my best friend on We were doing
- 02:48 - 02:52
100 kilometer challenge on Did you do that?
- 02:53 - 02:53
We were doing that continuously.
- 02:55 - 02:56
Eso we started.
- 02:57 - 02:59
I think it was about eight o'clock.
- 03:00 - 03:04
Um, in the morning we finished the following day around
- 03:05 - 03:05
about 10 o'clock.
- 03:05 - 03:09
It took us about 26 hours of walking all through
- 03:09 - 03:10
the day and all through the night.
- 03:11 - 03:16
To do that eso exercises is important to May to
- 03:17 - 03:19
keep me feeling positive and to keep me healthy and
- 03:19 - 03:22
happy s I also like it as a challenge.
- 03:23 - 03:26
So 100 kilometers was a really, really big challenge.
- 03:27 - 03:29
I've done a couple of 50 kilometers.
- 03:30 - 03:32
So this was the 50 kilometer mark.
- 03:32 - 03:35
We got to around about six o'clock in the evening
- 03:36 - 03:37
on Dhe.
- 03:37 - 03:40
Then the next 50 kilometers was really, really tough on
- 03:41 - 03:43
dive put their you conceal for exercise and good causes.
- 03:45 - 03:48
So as well as a setting myself, exercise challenges.
- 03:49 - 03:51
I also like raising money for charity.
- 03:52 - 03:55
So when I did the London Marathon, I've only done
- 03:55 - 03:59
that once I raised money for a breast cancer charity.
- 04:01 - 04:03
I like to raise money for the N S P
- 04:03 - 04:04
C c.
- 04:04 - 04:07
So those are things I That's something that I could
- 04:07 - 04:09
do that keeps me feeling positive.
- 04:09 - 04:12
But also I could do some good for others in
- 04:12 - 04:14
that. So that's really important for me.
- 04:16 - 04:20
That doesn't mean it's important for everybody's positive mental well
- 04:20 - 04:24
being. You might find the way use that you express
- 04:25 - 04:29
yourself on the way you keep feeling positive is through
- 04:29 - 04:37
prayer, whether that's Christian prayer, Muslim prayer, Jewish prayer, Sikh
- 04:38 - 04:40
prayer, whatever religion.
- 04:40 - 04:43
Or if you have no religion and you practice the
- 04:44 - 04:48
art of mindfulness, those are ways to help you feel
- 04:48 - 04:52
centered to help you feel calm, and they're also a
- 04:53 - 04:53
way of self expression.
- 04:55 - 04:58
Now, I said I would come back to the video
- 04:59 - 05:03
that I've said is an option toe watch after this
- 05:03 - 05:07
short assembly, because one of the ways you can express
- 05:08 - 05:11
yourself from one of the key themes from the place
- 05:11 - 05:15
to be this week is to be creative, get creative
- 05:15 - 05:16
and express yourself.
- 05:17 - 05:21
Now I've put a picture there of paintbrushes and artwork
- 05:22 - 05:23
on dhe.
- 05:23 - 05:26
The video that you that you could watch after this
- 05:26 - 05:30
is all about art, digital art as well as painting
- 05:31 - 05:31
and drawing.
- 05:34 - 05:36
But throughout the week in coming weeks.
- 05:36 - 05:39
They're they're They're releasing different videos of how you can
- 05:40 - 05:44
get creative because that's a way of self expression.
- 05:45 - 05:47
So it might not be digital art, or it might
- 05:47 - 05:48
not be painting and drawing.
- 05:49 - 05:54
You might express yourself through dance through poetry through creative
- 05:55 - 05:59
writing. I did notice one of the videos to come
- 05:59 - 06:02
that the place to be a releasing isa dance.
- 06:02 - 06:06
Something about dance promoting Bussi from strictly So there's many,
- 06:07 - 06:11
many ways off expressing yourself, and it's finding a way
- 06:12 - 06:14
that suits you and helps you.
- 06:16 - 06:19
So I'm going to finish with a prayer.
- 06:20 - 06:23
I just found a piece of music for us toe.
- 06:23 - 06:26
Have a few moments before I say a prayer thinking
- 06:26 - 06:29
about how we can express ourselves.
- 06:30 - 06:32
So if you just listen to this music for a
- 06:32 - 06:37
few moments on, think about how do you help yourself
- 06:38 - 06:39
feel calm and happy?
- 06:40 - 06:44
And how might you express yourself and show your personality
- 06:45 - 07:16
creatively? Yeah, yeah, okay, I faded that music down.
- 07:17 - 07:22
So to finish with what I'm going to use for
- 07:22 - 07:26
a pet prayer is actually just a short time sentence
- 07:27 - 07:30
from the Bible from Colossians about creativity.
- 07:32 - 07:35
So I'd like you to listen with calmness.
- 07:36 - 07:37
And if you agree at the end, you can say
- 07:38 - 07:38
on them.
- 07:39 - 07:47
Dear God, inclusions we read whatever you do work at
- 07:47 - 07:48
it with all your heart.
- 07:49 - 07:50
A meme Okay.
- 07:51 - 07:51
Thank you for listening.
- 07:52 - 07:54
Remember that video about creativity is there is an option
- 07:55 - 07:56
on. I'll see you again tomorrow.
- 07:57 - 07:57
Take care for now.
- 07:58 - 07:58
Bye bye.
