what this course looks like hopefully get you some familiarity.
- 00:20 - 00:22
Answer any questions that you have.
- 00:22 - 00:26
First up, we're asking ourselves what is psychology Psychology?
- 00:27 - 00:31
Simply put is the study of human behavior in this
- 00:31 - 00:34
class we learn about and we actively discussed a variety
- 00:35 - 00:39
of different concepts related thio anything from your biology and
- 00:40 - 00:44
consciousness to sensation and perception, um, to social psychology, developmental
- 00:45 - 00:50
psychology, child psychology, Um, concepts of motivation and emotion, memory
- 00:50 - 00:55
and learning, thinking and intelligence, um, and psychological disorders and
- 00:55 - 00:57
therapeutical treatments as well.
- 00:59 - 01:03
Um, the real goal and objective of this course is
- 01:03 - 01:07
to provide you with some tools to examine yourself in
- 01:07 - 01:09
the world around you through the lens of human behavior.
- 01:10 - 01:12
We talk a lot about what's going on in terms
- 01:13 - 01:14
of the human mind and cognition.
- 01:15 - 01:19
We also talk about the biological basis for behavior, um,
- 01:19 - 01:23
as well as social behaviors, um, and social environments and
- 01:23 - 01:26
their impact on us as well what we're hoping to
- 01:26 - 01:28
do in this course is help you critically examine yourself
- 01:29 - 01:33
and the world around you to better understand who you
- 01:33 - 01:36
are, um, and your role and how you move through
- 01:37 - 01:37
the world.
- 01:40 - 01:42
A couple questions that we usually get is what's the
- 01:42 - 01:44
anticipated workload for this class?
- 01:45 - 01:47
A zey senior level elective class.
- 01:47 - 01:50
You're gonna anticipate about 1 to 2 hours of homework
- 01:50 - 01:51
total per week.
- 01:52 - 01:54
Of course, those weeks are gonna vary in terms of
- 01:54 - 01:57
lightness or heaviness, depending just on the number of reading
- 01:57 - 02:01
assignments and general projects that you are work on, um,
- 02:01 - 02:06
again, week to week, a little student testimony from a
- 02:06 - 02:08
psych student This year they said that the class seems
- 02:08 - 02:10
to them as really good and balanced, not super stressful,
- 02:11 - 02:12
which is really nice on.
- 02:12 - 02:14
But if you take a look at the chart on
- 02:14 - 02:16
the left hand side, this was a student survey given
- 02:16 - 02:20
at the end of fall semester, um, most students falling
- 02:20 - 02:22
into the four and five categories.
- 02:22 - 02:25
The vast majority of students said that the workload have
- 02:26 - 02:28
been on par with what I expect and can manage
- 02:28 - 02:31
from this class, so four and five were strongly agree.
- 02:33 - 02:35
And then, lastly, what do I love about this class?
- 02:35 - 02:36
And then what can you look forward?
- 02:36 - 02:39
Thio? There's two elements of site that I enjoy the
- 02:39 - 02:41
most First are gonna be the fun projects that we
- 02:41 - 02:43
get to dio on the highlight.
- 02:43 - 02:45
Really, A fall semester is the Flower baby project, both
- 02:46 - 02:50
designing and then reflecting on the different developmental stages of
- 02:50 - 02:52
your baby as well as class discussions, right?
- 02:53 - 02:55
All the material is supposed to be relevant to you,
- 02:55 - 02:58
your own life, both past, present and future.
- 02:58 - 03:01
Andi believe that you'll have plenty to contribute to those
- 03:01 - 03:05
discussions. Ah, couple quotes from sites students that have reported
- 03:05 - 03:09
from this year loving group work and working together, allowing
- 03:09 - 03:14
sociability as well as engaging lectures and discussions about the
- 03:14 - 03:15
reading questions.
- 03:18 - 03:18
That's it.
- 03:18 - 03:20
If you do have any questions, please feel free to
- 03:20 - 03:23
reach out to miss crying or myself will be happy
- 03:23 - 03:24
to answer them.
