Good morning Friends and Happy thursday.
- 00:04 - 00:08
Welcome to today's Mindful Mornings where we are practicing
- 00:09 - 00:12
mindfulness which means being in the present moment,
- 00:13 - 00:16
thinking about our actions and just
- 00:16 - 00:19
being in this moment
- 00:19 - 00:21
in the classroom,
- 00:21 - 00:26
focusing on everything around us in the exact place where
- 00:26 - 00:30
we are and not thinking about all the other things.
- 00:31 - 00:34
So for today's mindfulness activity because I'd like
- 00:34 - 00:37
to remind you of a simple five finger breathing
- 00:37 - 00:42
activity that we can do whenever our body is telling us that we need a break.
- 00:43 - 00:47
That we need to take a few deep breaths that we are starting to feel
- 00:47 - 00:54
overwhelmed or stressed or very angry and just out of control of our bodies.
- 00:54 - 00:59
So to gain control of our bodies back and of our minds,
- 00:59 - 01:05
we have to practice being mindful and a way to do that is using five finger breathing.
- 01:05 - 01:07
So whenever you're on a break,
- 01:07 - 01:13
whenever you feel like your body is starting to get out of out of your control, right?
- 01:13 - 01:15
Because you control your body.
- 01:15 - 01:17
We tried this five finger breathing
- 01:18 - 01:19
and we start
- 01:19 - 01:20
by our thumb
- 01:21 - 01:24
and as we go up we'll take a deep breath in
- 01:25 - 01:26
and as we go down
- 01:27 - 01:28
well let that breath go.
- 01:29 - 01:31
So we're starting at our thumb,
- 01:32 - 01:33
put your hand up,
- 01:33 - 01:35
take a deep breath in
- 01:36 - 01:37
out
- 01:39 - 01:40
in
- 01:42 - 01:43
and out
- 01:46 - 01:47
in
- 01:50 - 01:51
and out
- 01:54 - 01:54
in
- 01:57 - 01:58
out,
- 01:59 - 02:01
Last one deep breath in
- 02:02 - 02:04
and out.
- 02:07 - 02:11
And the great thing about this five finger breathing friends is you can do it
- 02:11 - 02:12
anywhere
- 02:13 - 02:17
anywhere. You are at that you need a small breathing break.
- 02:18 - 02:21
So let's move on to our affirmations for the day.
- 02:21 - 02:23
Go ahead and repeat after me.
- 02:24 - 02:25
I
- 02:25 - 02:27
can forgive others.
- 02:28 - 02:30
I can forgive others.
- 02:32 - 02:34
I can forgive myself,
- 02:35 - 02:37
I can forgive myself.
- 02:38 - 02:39
This one is really important.
- 02:40 - 02:43
I can let the past go.
- 02:43 - 02:46
I can let the past
- 02:46 - 02:46
go
- 02:48 - 02:52
And last one. I can move forward.
- 02:53 - 02:54
I can move forward.
- 02:56 - 03:00
And now friends are affirmations for today are a reminder of being mindful.
- 03:01 - 03:06
And that means if some friend hurt us or someone hurt us, we can choose to forgive
- 03:07 - 03:10
and to let it go and not affect us anymore.
- 03:10 - 03:13
We can choose to let it go so that we can focus on learning.
- 03:13 - 03:20
We can focus on being with the friends we do have and having fun in our day.
- 03:20 - 03:22
So thank you for joining me on mindful mornings,
- 03:22 - 03:24
Friends and I will see you all next time.
