Hello, I'm Brian Shoe.
- 00:01 - 00:04
I'm a senior data scientist that lengthen come to talk
- 00:04 - 00:09
to you about linkedin insights for the end of 2021.
- 00:09 - 00:10
Let's get into it.
- 00:10 - 00:13
So we're in the midst of what we're calling the Great Reshuffle,
- 00:13 - 00:18
and it's a transformation how we work, where we work and also how we hire.
- 00:19 - 00:22
So let's get right into how we work. Remote work
- 00:22 - 00:25
Has steadily increased in prevalence throughout. 2021.
- 00:25 - 00:33
Um, right now, about 16.6% of us paid jobs offer remote work in November 2021,
- 00:33 - 00:37
increasing from 99.3% in January 2021.
- 00:38 - 00:43
And this 16.6% is attracting 2.4 X the amount of
- 00:43 - 00:46
job views and 2.6 x the amount of job applications.
- 00:46 - 00:49
And this has increased since the beginning of the year,
- 00:49 - 00:54
when they attracted 1.7 x and two x of job views and applications.
- 00:54 - 00:59
We're also seeing companies increased the remote jobs they're offering,
- 00:59 - 01:01
which is now at 31.8% of U.
- 01:01 - 01:02
S.
- 01:02 - 01:07
Companies, and it's been a steady increase from 25.6% at the beginning of the year.
- 01:08 - 01:08
Um,
- 01:08 - 01:10
these are some of the industry's also with
- 01:10 - 01:13
the greatest percentage of paid remote posting.
- 01:13 - 01:16
So we got software 90 corporate services and media and
- 01:16 - 01:21
communication have really adapted to the remote work mindset.
- 01:21 - 01:24
Um, now switching the job transitions,
- 01:24 - 01:28
they rose rapidly in 2021 following a decrease during the pandemic.
- 01:28 - 01:31
Um, right now, in November 2021,
- 01:31 - 01:35
we're at 40 plus 40.9% year over year compared to
- 01:35 - 01:40
the pandemic and plus 32.6% compared to pre pandemic.
- 01:40 - 01:44
Um, and you see, this is steadily increasing from Last year, um,
- 01:44 - 01:52
and also from which was about 5.9% of a decrease as we dropped during the pandemic.
- 01:53 - 01:53
Um,
- 01:53 - 01:55
some of the industries with the greatest increases
- 01:55 - 01:57
and workers are software and IT services,
- 01:57 - 02:00
transportation and logistics and healthcare.
- 02:01 - 02:04
And then we're also seeing that the transitions of women, um,
- 02:04 - 02:09
is plus 34.2% compared to pre pandemic,
- 02:09 - 02:11
and it's still greater than the job transitions of men.
- 02:11 - 02:13
Um, initially, when the pandemic started,
- 02:13 - 02:18
we actually saw a decrease in the job transition, the women compared to men.
- 02:18 - 02:20
But that seems to be
- 02:20 - 02:21
I'm currently reversing,
- 02:22 - 02:25
and we're seeing that as Gen Z enters the workforce,
- 02:25 - 02:29
their transitions are far exceeding that of
- 02:29 - 02:32
millennials and boomers in other generations.
- 02:33 - 02:35
So let's talk about where we work now.
- 02:35 - 02:36
Um,
- 02:36 - 02:38
we're seeing that migration rates are staying below pandemic
- 02:38 - 02:42
and pre pandemic levels nearing the end of 2021.
- 02:42 - 02:46
So it's down 17.7%, down 26% compared to years ago.
- 02:46 - 02:49
Right now, um, some of the places that people are moving to
- 02:50 - 02:56
More in 2021 is the South. Many Florida cities up there Miami, Jacksonville,
- 02:56 - 02:59
Orlando, Tampa and Austin as well.
- 02:59 - 03:04
Um, all of these are seeing almost double digit increases in their migration rate.
- 03:05 - 03:10
And so here are the places that people are moving out of, um, which are Minneapolis,
- 03:10 - 03:13
San Francisco, Portland, Chicago, Seattle,
- 03:13 - 03:15
and they're experiencing the greatest decreases.
- 03:16 - 03:19
And then finally, let's look at how we hire,
- 03:19 - 03:24
um, a certain trend that we're keeping an eye on is green job skills and industries.
- 03:24 - 03:26
They have been prevalent before the pandemic,
- 03:26 - 03:30
but now we're seeing that they've probably been accelerated by the pandemic.
- 03:31 - 03:32
And so the sheriff,
- 03:32 - 03:36
Greek talent members with green or greening jobs with at least
- 03:36 - 03:40
the green skill in their profile on the global workforce increased,
- 03:40 - 03:44
Um, from 9.6% 5 years ago to now 13.3%.
- 03:45 - 03:48
And these jobs have increased tremendously in
- 03:48 - 03:51
renewables and environment compared to oil,
- 03:51 - 03:52
gas.
- 03:52 - 03:54
And at this pace, renewable jobs will
- 03:54 - 03:57
Outnumber Oil and Gas Jobs by 2023.
- 03:58 - 03:58
Um,
- 03:58 - 04:01
and then recently we saw that November 2021 emerged as
- 04:01 - 04:04
the strongest hiring months in the start of the pandemic.
- 04:04 - 04:07
And we're seeing the recovery now in full swing.
- 04:07 - 04:10
Um, some of these industries that we're seeing as recreation and travel,
- 04:10 - 04:13
which actually got hit strongly by the pandemic.
- 04:13 - 04:14
Um, in the software,
- 04:14 - 04:16
19 corporate services are experiencing the strongest
- 04:16 - 04:18
hiring right now relative to pick up.
- 04:19 - 04:23
Um, and some of the cities are some of the cities that you saw before Austin,
- 04:23 - 04:27
Miami are places that people are moving to, and these are, um,
- 04:27 - 04:30
seeing very strong hiring rates.
- 04:30 - 04:32
And some of the other cities, like San Francisco,
- 04:32 - 04:34
is actually down a list of migration to
- 04:35 - 04:36
That's all I got for you.
- 04:37 - 04:40
That's the end of 2021. We'll see you next year
