Good morning my friends and happy friday.
- 00:04 - 00:09
Welcome to today's Mindful mornings where we are practicing mindfulness,
- 00:09 - 00:15
the art of being calm and being aware of your surroundings.
- 00:16 - 00:19
Being aware of your choices of what you say
- 00:19 - 00:20
and what you do.
- 00:21 - 00:24
It is being in the present moment
- 00:24 - 00:29
and really thinking about what we feel, what we think, what we say
- 00:29 - 00:31
and just noticing the things around us
- 00:32 - 00:34
that my friends is mindfulness
- 00:35 - 00:39
and for today's mindfulness activity we're going to be doing a script.
- 00:39 - 00:42
So go ahead and sit comfortably in your chair.
- 00:43 - 00:46
You're gonna start by taking your deep breath in
- 00:48 - 00:50
and a deep breath out
- 00:54 - 00:57
for this activity. You can choose to close your eyes
- 00:58 - 01:00
So if you choose to close your eyes,
- 01:01 - 01:03
imagine yourself
- 01:04 - 01:06
that you are laying on the ground
- 01:08 - 01:10
and you feel the grass
- 01:10 - 01:12
on your arms.
- 01:14 - 01:15
You are laying down
- 01:15 - 01:17
in this field of grass
- 01:18 - 01:20
and you feel the grass
- 01:20 - 01:23
tickling the side of your arms,
- 01:24 - 01:25
your legs
- 01:25 - 01:26
and your fingers.
- 01:28 - 01:31
You choose to squeeze the grass
- 01:32 - 01:34
and you feel that it's wet.
- 01:35 - 01:38
It feels kind of wet and cold
- 01:39 - 01:40
because it rained.
- 01:42 - 01:44
You start to move your hands
- 01:44 - 01:48
side to side on the grass
- 01:48 - 01:52
and you feel the water Sprinkle onto your hand
- 01:53 - 01:54
and your arms
- 01:54 - 01:56
and some on your face
- 01:58 - 02:00
you get surprised because you feel it's cold
- 02:01 - 02:03
so you've touched your face
- 02:04 - 02:08
and wipe away the water that has spilled onto your face.
- 02:10 - 02:13
You smile because now you hear a bird,
- 02:14 - 02:17
you hear a bird in the background,
- 02:18 - 02:19
you don't know where it is
- 02:20 - 02:21
but you can hear it,
- 02:24 - 02:28
the sound of the bird gets louder and louder
- 02:29 - 02:32
until you realize you feel a weight
- 02:32 - 02:33
on your stomach.
- 02:35 - 02:39
It feels as if the bird has just landed on your stomach,
- 02:41 - 02:43
you feel it's tiny feet
- 02:44 - 02:47
start to move around your tummy
- 02:48 - 02:50
and it's starting to tickle your tummy
- 02:50 - 02:52
so you laugh a bit
- 02:53 - 02:55
and now the bird has flown away,
- 02:56 - 02:59
It might have gotten scared through your laughter.
- 03:01 - 03:07
And now as you lay down on this grass that feels kind of wet and cold,
- 03:08 - 03:12
you start to feel a warmness on your face.
- 03:13 - 03:16
Your face is now feeling warm
- 03:16 - 03:21
so with your eyes still closed, you turn your head around
- 03:22 - 03:25
and you start to feel for the warmth.
- 03:26 - 03:29
You realize the sun is coming out
- 03:29 - 03:32
and you feel that warmth on your face.
- 03:33 - 03:37
The warmth is getting stronger and stronger
- 03:38 - 03:41
on your face and you feel it
- 03:41 - 03:43
all over.
- 03:45 - 03:46
Just then
- 03:47 - 03:50
your hair starts to feel a breeze.
- 03:51 - 03:54
You feel it in between the strands of your hair,
- 03:55 - 03:57
A gentle breeze flowing through
- 03:58 - 04:00
doesn't feel very cold,
- 04:01 - 04:02
but it doesn't feel very hot.
- 04:03 - 04:06
It's kind of like a warm, gentle breeze
- 04:06 - 04:07
through your hair.
- 04:09 - 04:11
You feel it on your face,
- 04:12 - 04:14
you feel it on your arms,
- 04:15 - 04:20
the little hairs on your arms are sticking up and it gives you ghost bumps,
- 04:22 - 04:24
you decide to sit down
- 04:25 - 04:28
and put your hands on the grass and your bottoms on the grass,
- 04:30 - 04:33
you decided to take one more deep breath in
- 04:35 - 04:36
and out.
- 04:38 - 04:40
And as you open your eyes,
- 04:40 - 04:43
you realize that you are back in the classroom
- 04:44 - 04:45
and you see
- 04:45 - 04:47
your classmates around you and your teacher
- 04:49 - 04:53
and friends. That was our mindfulness script for today.
- 04:53 - 04:58
It's easier when you close your eyes to help us feel calm for today to
- 04:58 - 05:02
help us feel relaxed and it will help us make those good choices for today.
- 05:03 - 05:05
So thank you for joining me friends and I will see you all next.
