Hi, everybody.
- 00:02 - 00:03
Welcome to a virtual back to school night.
- 00:04 - 00:06
My name is Sarah Kang, and I am one of
- 00:06 - 00:09
the seven good English teachers here ever Fidel Middle school.
- 00:10 - 00:12
Today, I'm just going to share some information with you
- 00:13 - 00:17
guys, but what we do in seventh grade, so we
- 00:17 - 00:20
utilize a lot of different type of technology in our
- 00:21 - 00:25
classroom, but three very, very important ones are microscopic teams,
- 00:26 - 00:30
which is the application that, um, we're going to be
- 00:30 - 00:33
using for our live video calls to one.
- 00:34 - 00:37
No, is where all of our assignments are, and three
- 00:37 - 00:40
school wires where ASU its contract or we got a
- 00:40 - 00:45
glance, um, and contact information if they need extra help
- 00:45 - 00:45
as well.
- 00:47 - 00:50
So there are four core novels that were going to
- 00:50 - 00:51
be reading.
- 00:51 - 00:54
The first one is Freak the Mighty, which is a
- 00:54 - 00:57
realistic fiction novel, The Giver, which is a science fiction.
- 00:58 - 01:02
The Red Pencil, which is historical fiction, and onto in
- 01:02 - 01:05
ways, which is a memoir and all these different books.
- 01:05 - 01:09
We always do a small project with them, so it's
- 01:09 - 01:10
really, really exciting.
- 01:10 - 01:14
And, um, stupids love the hands on experience after they
- 01:14 - 01:15
read each novel.
- 01:19 - 01:21
So you know these are some of our expectations from
- 01:21 - 01:23
my seventh graders this year.
- 01:24 - 01:28
I mean, I always expect our students to participate, you
- 01:28 - 01:31
know, answer questions or, you know, talk to each other.
- 01:31 - 01:35
Discuss, to be prepared with all their materials, you know,
- 01:35 - 01:41
having coming with a charge laptop the reading finished are
- 01:41 - 01:45
coming to plus with the question that they have in
- 01:45 - 01:48
mind. You know, that also accounts, So just being prepared
- 01:48 - 01:51
for class is extremely or end three.
- 01:52 - 01:53
Being respectful to one another in the classroom.
- 01:55 - 01:56
We do a lot of discussion here.
- 01:57 - 01:59
So, you know, I want our students to learn to
- 02:00 - 02:03
respect and to be respected in Europe and for to
- 02:03 - 02:06
always just ask questions, whatever it as it doesn't matter
- 02:06 - 02:07
how small are helping.
- 02:07 - 02:10
The question is, but I do love when our students
- 02:11 - 02:13
engage and just ask a lot of questions.
- 02:15 - 02:17
So that's a little bit about seven great English.
- 02:18 - 02:21
