Good morning my friends and welcome to another day of mindful mornings.
- 00:06 - 00:10
Today is our wonderful Wednesday and we will be starting
- 00:10 - 00:15
out our mindfulness activity of getting in the present moment
- 00:16 - 00:17
being fully here
- 00:18 - 00:21
by looking at one of our glitter drawers.
- 00:22 - 00:25
Now, our glittery jars are meant to represent
- 00:25 - 00:28
all those many, many thoughts
- 00:28 - 00:30
and worries that you may have
- 00:30 - 00:32
the things that you were thinking about
- 00:33 - 00:34
when you're in school,
- 00:35 - 00:36
you might be in class
- 00:37 - 00:38
and you're thinking about
- 00:39 - 00:44
what is my mom doing? Are they okay? What's my dad doing? What about my grandma?
- 00:44 - 00:49
Someone was saying something yesterday. My friends are ignoring me.
- 00:49 - 00:52
All of this is happening too many things on my mind
- 00:53 - 00:55
and I can't focus in class today.
- 00:56 - 00:58
Well that's what our mindfulness jars are for.
- 00:58 - 01:03
To remind you that your mind might have many, many thoughts
- 01:03 - 01:04
inside.
- 01:05 - 01:07
And when we take time to be mindful,
- 01:08 - 01:09
when we take time
- 01:09 - 01:10
to breathe
- 01:11 - 01:13
as we watch the glitter go down.
- 01:15 - 01:18
Remember that sometimes we get so overwhelmed
- 01:19 - 01:20
that we just need to pause.
- 01:21 - 01:24
We need to pause and say thank you brain.
- 01:24 - 01:27
I know you're letting me know about things that are important
- 01:28 - 01:29
but right now
- 01:29 - 01:31
school is also important
- 01:31 - 01:34
right now. My job is to be in class.
- 01:34 - 01:38
So thank you brain for letting me know that I'm worried about something
- 01:38 - 01:40
but I'm gonna go ahead and worry about that later
- 01:41 - 01:43
right now. I'm just going to be in class
- 01:43 - 01:46
because we can't really control anything outside of us. Boys and girls.
- 01:47 - 01:49
We can control our bodies
- 01:49 - 01:51
and our thoughts and how we feel about things.
- 01:52 - 01:54
But we really don't have control of other
- 01:54 - 01:56
people and what's happening around there yet.
- 01:56 - 01:56
So
- 01:57 - 02:00
take your time to just kind of focus
- 02:00 - 02:02
and watch as the glitter goes down
- 02:06 - 02:07
slowly
- 02:08 - 02:09
but surely
- 02:11 - 02:12
the jar will start to clear up
- 02:21 - 02:22
and as the glitter
- 02:22 - 02:23
comes down
- 02:24 - 02:25
so will our thoughts.
- 02:36 - 02:40
Thank you for joining me on that mindfulness activity for today Boys and girls.
- 02:40 - 02:42
Let's move on to our affirmations.
- 02:44 - 02:45
I
- 02:45 - 02:46
and powerful.
- 02:47 - 02:49
I am powerful.
- 02:50 - 02:50
Mhm.
- 02:51 - 02:53
I am resilient.
- 02:54 - 02:55
I am resilient.
- 02:57 - 02:59
I am dedicated.
- 03:00 - 03:02
I am dedicated.
- 03:03 - 03:04
Last one.
- 03:04 - 03:06
I am courageous.
- 03:06 - 03:07
I am
- 03:08 - 03:09
courageous.
- 03:11 - 03:11
Now.
- 03:11 - 03:16
Our affirmations remind us that if we want to become something,
- 03:16 - 03:19
we tell it to ourselves every single day.
- 03:19 - 03:22
If you might not be very confident in yourself now
- 03:22 - 03:25
you can become more confident in yourself by repeating those words
- 03:26 - 03:29
you tell yourself. I am smart, I am intelligent.
- 03:29 - 03:31
I might not understand something now
- 03:31 - 03:33
but I'll understand it later.
- 03:34 - 03:35
And that's also having a growth mindset.
- 03:36 - 03:39
So thank you for joining me on today's mindful mornings and I'll see you all tomorrow
