Hi, so today I'm going to be continuing the presentation that Haley started,
- 00:06 - 00:13
and this is a presentation we're going to be presenting to a group of 29 8 year olds,
- 00:13 - 00:16
they're in second grade, so that is our target audience.
- 00:16 - 00:20
Um So the first thing I'm gonna do is I'm going to pick up where Haley left off,
- 00:20 - 00:23
we saw the video, and so I'm gonna go ahead and talk about brushing and flossing.
- 00:24 - 00:28
So the biggest thing for brushing and flossing for students to know
- 00:28 - 00:31
is that they need to be brushing two times a day.
- 00:31 - 00:35
So it's in the morning and at night, and with brushing and flossing,
- 00:35 - 00:37
we're going to talk about some different techniques for the students,
- 00:38 - 00:41
ones that are easy for them to understand, easy for them to grasp.
- 00:42 - 00:46
Um And we're going to demonstrate their competence through a
- 00:46 - 00:48
group of activities at the end of our presentation,
- 00:48 - 00:52
where they'll demonstrate on type inference with toothbrush and floss,
- 00:52 - 00:57
how to properly brush and floss based off of the directions we gave in the video,
- 00:57 - 00:59
and also in the presentation.
- 00:59 - 01:02
So what I'll go ahead and do is I'll demonstrate
- 01:02 - 01:03
how to brush and how to flush.
- 01:04 - 01:05
And so with brushing,
- 01:05 - 01:08
what we really want to do is focus on getting half
- 01:08 - 01:11
of our toothbrush on our tooth and half on our gums.
- 01:11 - 01:13
And so when we do that,
- 01:13 - 01:17
we kind of got our toothbrush angled a little difficult to see on this video.
- 01:17 - 01:21
Um So we're gonna go ahead and brush in circles.
- 01:21 - 01:25
I really want to focus get every single area of that tooth nice and clean,
- 01:25 - 01:27
and then we're gonna go back and forth.
- 01:27 - 01:29
And so we're going to go ahead and demonstrate
- 01:29 - 01:31
the phones and the best technique to the students
- 01:32 - 01:35
just to keep it simple um for them to rest Ortiz
- 01:36 - 01:37
Okay, so the next thing we're gonna talk about,
- 01:37 - 01:40
we're gonna talk about flossing and with flossing,
- 01:40 - 01:43
I'm going to emphasize the C shaped flossing,
- 01:43 - 01:47
we tell it to all of our patients and I think it's a really good visualization too,
- 01:47 - 01:50
to see a sea and hug each tooth.
- 01:50 - 01:56
Those kinds of terminologies will be great visual explanations for the students.
- 01:56 - 02:01
So I'm going to go ahead and have a C. And we're going to go down between the teeth
- 02:01 - 02:03
a little difficult to demonstrate on the model,
- 02:03 - 02:06
and we're gonna go ahead and go back and forth
- 02:06 - 02:10
creating a C shape flossing each side of our tooth.
- 02:12 - 02:16
So we'll have the stations at the end of the presentation, like I mentioned earlier,
- 02:16 - 02:19
where the students will be able to demonstrate this um will
- 02:19 - 02:24
also be going around each station and doing the show,
- 02:24 - 02:28
tell do kind of methodology for teaching the
- 02:28 - 02:31
students where I'll go ahead and demonstrate again.
- 02:31 - 02:34
Um just the proper brushing and flossing techniques.
- 02:36 - 02:40
Okay, so the next thing we're gonna talk about is nutrition and so with nutrition,
- 02:40 - 02:42
we're going to keep it pretty broad.
- 02:42 - 02:45
I have a great picture here that talks about things that are
- 02:45 - 02:48
great for our bodies and things that are great for our teeth.
- 02:48 - 02:54
So we have fruits, grains, protein, vegetables and then dairy.
- 02:54 - 02:56
Also talk about the
- 02:56 - 02:57
um
- 02:57 - 03:02
the consumption of water and just how that helps flush all the bacteria and keep
- 03:02 - 03:07
the plaque on our teeth from forming as much as if we didn't drink water.
- 03:08 - 03:09
So we'll talk about that.
