The Heart

By Abigail Dibling

How Does Blood Travel From the Heart?

What is your heart made of , and how does that make your heart beat?

Blood travels from the heart to every organ and tissue in your body.It travels through a system of blood vessels. Blood that passes the right side of your heart is newly replenished with oxygen after passing through your lungs.Arteries are the vessels that carry blood away from the heart.

What I Know

The heart is made of cardiac muscle, which is a special type of muscle. Cardiac muscle is found nowhere else in your body. It is involuntary muscle. That means that it moves automatically,so you can not tell your heart to beat. That is how your heart has a heartbeat.

The heart is what keeps you going. Everybody has a heart (including animals). It is not shaped like a heart. To have a healthy heart you must exercise.

How much blood does your heart pump?

The heart can pump more than 7,200 quarts of blood through the body. That gives your muscles in your body the oxygen they need to do all of the activities you LOVE to do!
