Beowulf and the Three Monsters he faces.

The fight with the Dragon

They said that of all the kings upon the earth he was the man most gracious and fair-minded,kindest to The Geats' tribute to Beowulf after his death.

"In pure gold inlay on the sword-guards there were rune-markings correctly incised,stating and recording for whom the swordhad been first made and ornamentedwith its scrollworked hilt"

The Dragon

"The dragon began to belch out flames and burn bright homesteads; there was a hot glowhat scared everyone, for the vile sky-wingerwould leave nothing alive in his wake."

Beowulf goes to the barrow and shouts at the dragon and he breaths fire but Beowulf puts his iron shield up and isn't harmed. Beowulf strikes but nothing happens to the dragon. Then the dragon breathes fire again and Beowulf felt the pain. All except one soldier fled. That one soldier told the others to come back and fight and then he joins Beowulf. Then the dragon bites Beowulf's neck and the soldier stabs the dragon and Beowulf takes a small knife and kills him. The injury that Beowulf gets is fatal.

The fight with Grendel's mother

The dragon was guarding the treasure but somehow a slave is able to steal a goblet. When the dragon finds out thst the goblet went missing he goes on a rampage and scorges the lands with fire. One of the targets of the fire was the throne-hall and it was burnt to the ground. Beowulf decides he will retaliate but tells his men that he is going to take 11 soldiers.

Unferth gives Beowulf his sword to fight Grendel's mother. He makes his way to her,as he knows she is under a waterfall. He swims for hours to find her and when he finally reaches where she is, we aren't sure who starts the fighting. As they start fighting Grendel's mother throws him to the ground after Beowulf tries to stab her with the sword but it doesn't work. Then Beowulf stabs her a cuts her head off.

"It is always better to avenge dear ones than to indulge in mourning."

The Fight with Grendel

Grendels's mother becomes very upset and enraged by the death of her son and is seeking revenge. She kills a man and the king's advisor. The King decides to tells Beowulf he should attack her instead of waiting for her to attack again.

Beowulf decides as a battle tactic to not use weapons because Grendel doesn't use them. Grendel comes to the mead hall when all the soldiers are sleeping and grabs a man and kills him, but before he has the chance to kill another man, he is grabbed very strongly. For the first time he feels fear. He then realizes who it is but by this time he already has his arm ripped off.

" But the murderous man-bane got a great wound as tendons were torn, shoulders shorn open, and bone-locks broken.

When Beowulf comes to the kingdom, he comes to fight Grendel which is his first monster that he faces.

"I am no weaker in works of war, no less a grappler than Grendel himself. Soon i'll shall sink him and do his death-sleep, not with my sword but soulely by strength.
